Review 4K Movie

'Desperate Living' is the second film of John Waters, the ‘king of trash’ and transgressive art, that I've seen. The first film of his I saw was ‘The Pink Flamingos,’ and after watching it, I hoped things couldn't get any worse. But it turns out they can)

'Desperate Living' isn’t the most accurate title for this film, in my opinion. ‘Life in Hell’ would have been more fitting.

The main highlight of this film is that it doesn’t even reevaluate values; it simply brutally hammers the truth into the viewer’s aestheticized brain. What happens if you strip people of morality and the familiar structure of society?—humanity without masks, just as it is. In the world of truth, people don’t go to the polls, don’t sit down to family dinners, and don’t show or extend mercy. There is only an experimental form of life, where the experiment is every hour lived, every hot night, every blow. It is a world that doesn’t set a goal for itself but spits on it. And only here does humanity march faithfully toward its logical and justified end. Through resentment, frustration, self-destruction and destruction, lust, and the rejection of one’s own flesh.

'Desperate Living' is a bible by Freud and de Sade. It is the triumph of evil, sprinkled with dashes of black humor; it is satire and provocation in its purest form.

It’s worth watching for many: those who believe in goodness, those who believe in people, and those who love shocking cinema.
