Review 4K Movie

For some people the favorite comedy duo is Bourville and Louis De Funes, for others such duo is Richard Pryor and Richard Wilder, the third will say that the best comedy couple was Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, and the fourth will remember about Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I have nothing against such a choice, but for me the best screen duo were and remain two charming Italians - Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. Actors, about whom few people remember here and now, as the movies with them are no longer broadcast on television, and on DVD or Blu-ray they can't be found on DVD or Blu-ray. However, they clearly did not deserve such an attitude. After all, even though their movies were simple in terms of presentation of the plot, but they took them far from this. Films with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, took charming characters who disliked each other, but were forced to work together, and if in any other movie partners adopted the habits of partners, then in films with this couple, each remained at his own. Terence Hill and Bud Spencer very rarely helped each other if they were involved in any trouble. They said, “You got yourself into trouble, so deal with it yourself. The situation was complemented by snide comments from both actors, as well as the fact that the fights in their performance more like a fun show, in which there was no room for excessive cruelty and the fact that the hero Bud Spencer handed out his opponent slaps, and then hit the crown blow to the head can not help but cause laughter. And our guest tonight is a prime example of that. So this is Crime Busters.

Matt Kirby is a young guy with a sly glint in his eye, a couple of catchphrases on his lips and a sailor's cap on his head. Where's our hero been sailing? Most likely in Ankh-Morpork, until the waters of the Flat World brought the hero Terence Hill to our long-suffering Earth. Not that Matt Kirby was out of this world, but at the same time he is very different from the people around him due to his light-heartedness, positive attitude, self-confidence, and the fact that Terence Hill's hero didn't give a damn about the laws and conventions of modern society, and if someone hurts him, he will regret it. Those who decided to threaten and insult Terence Hill's hero turned out to be the port mafia, who not only got the first number, but their brand new, just stolen car was turned into a pile of scrap metal, after which Matt Kirby, like Popeye the sailor, left whistling a carefree tune.

Wilbur Walsh on the contrary, a much older and experienced man, and therefore looked at the world as a cesspool. Bud Spencer's character reminds us of a bear that sits on the sidelines and doesn't touch anyone, but God forbid you start bullying him - there will be no mercy. And Wilbur, just like Matt before him, tried to get a job at the port and just like Terence Hill's hero, Bud Spencer's character ran into the port mafia, the same one. Everything ended in a fight and another destruction of an honestly stolen car.

That's where Bud Spencer and Terence Hill meet. Okay, well, not just that. The point is that neither Wilber nor Matt has even a dime in their pockets, and they want to eat. So what's the solution? Get a job? We tried that. Nah, we should rob a supermarket, it's practically a win-win. Practically. Except that the stars were clearly unfavorable, and so the heroes of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill instead of the supermarket break into the police station, where they are immediately enrolled as cadets. Yes, and it happens.

It would seem that now the heroes have jobs, salaries, stylish uniforms and hot chowder, but they are still not happy and do everything in their power to fail the entrance exams and to be kicked out of the police in disgrace. What did I say about the stars? Forget it. Fate has obviously decided to play a good joke on the heroes, as they are not only not kicked out of the police, but even more they successfully pass all the exams, and Captain McBready perceives Matt Kirby as his protégé. That's what we got!

Of course, at such moments we remember such movies as “Volunteers of Willing” and “Police Academy”, but this movie was released much earlier and the story itself is presented in a light, almost playful way, as if we are sketches from the life of two heroes, where they periodically fall into comical situations and also comically get out of them. One scene in a cheap diner is worth what it is worth: the main characters pretend to be disabled, Hill - lame, and Spencer - deaf and dumb, while a gang of teenagers are tearing up the place. They do it for the time being, but our heroes are good guys, even if they do good deeds reluctantly and in a casual way. They beat up scoundrels, but only because they were in the way, and the fact that after that Hill and Spencer took the teenagers' money and gave it to the owner of the place, so it's a matter of course and nothing special in it. And that's what their characters have always gotten me. They seem to be simple and snide comrades, who do everything for themselves, but the situation turns out in such a way that the main characters help others, but they themselves remain penniless. And let them grumble about it for a long time... well, only Bud Spencer's character grumbles, while Terence Hill shows his trademark cheeky smile, but the characters look extremely happy and when they “ride off into the sunset”, it's safe to say - they'll be fine.

Bottom line: Maybe I'm not objective and maybe my assessment will seem a little overrated, but I love movies with this couple, and “Crime Busters” is one of the best movies with the Hill/Spencer duo. It's a positive, kind and light movie that is worth seeing once just so you never forget. I highly recommend it for viewing.
