Review 4K Movie

One day, in a large group, we decided to go to the movies. At the time, it was impossible to choose something appropriate for everyone. But here everyone paid attention to a massive poster with the inscription: "Les Miserables", featuring famous Hollywood personalities: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Syfred and others. It brings to mind the famous work of Victor Hugo, on which, in fact, the movie was made. Well. We decided to go see it.

None of us even knew it was a musical. The beginning and the brave song of the convicts was discouraging. I still remember how my friends and I started looking at each other, suddenly realizing we'd have to listen to the songs for the whole movie. But you know, I don't regret at all that we saw this masterpiece that night. Already by the end of the first musical we, as unprepared viewers for the musical, accepted the rules of this narrative and fully immersed in the story of the characters.

The project is created with great care and attention to detail. The narrative is carried out at an excellent pace, you can feel the scale of the project and the coordinated work of all departments of production. Charismatic heroes in the frame, around excellent scenery, allowing you to really believe in the reality of the whole world of the past, well, the costumes, makeup and props above all praise. Not for nothing did the picture win an Oscar, a Saturn and a British Academy Award for makeup and hair.

There is no point in retelling the story. Probably everyone interested in Hugo's classics knows the interesting story of Les Miserables in the work of the same name. The unconventional screen adaptation with lots of songs only adds to the scope of the work and allows for a much deeper character reveal, which I have not seen later in any of the other "Les Miserables" screen adaptations.

For all the colorfulness of the project, it was the acting that impressed me personally. Each of the characters are portrayed on the screen by masterful actors and actresses. Everyone is wonderful in their role. Even if the movie is rather tearful, but you accept this approach, ready to feel the pain and bitterness of the characters, their motivation, their hard fate, the different ending for everyone. Anne Hathaway is particularly impressive. Even a decade later I remember her performance in this project, and I can say for sure that the girl justly won an Oscar for her role.

The suspense between Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe's characters is fascinating. Their Jean Valjean and Javert seem to be playing a chess game throughout the whole picture. Each of the characters has his own obvious convictions, each one is right in his own way, and you, as a spectator, fully accept the characters as such and empathize with each of them. Sometimes you just want to be there between these men, stop them, explain how their confrontation looks from the outside, try to reconcile and explain that everything that's happening is a hard coincidence, and they should accept each other's positions and maybe even become friends. Naive, I agree. But that's the sentiment that haunted me for most of the movie.

Another important line is Fantine's plight. She is one of many whose life was very hard during the harsh years of the early 19th century. Scene by scene, frame by frame, you experience Anne Hathaway's character. Her destiny tears the audience's soul, and the actress gives her all her 120 percent. You believe her, she merges with the character, she did a great job.

Eddie Rahman and Amanda Sayfred convey the spirit of the revolutionary young generation through their characters Marius and Cosette, people who had their ideas of justice for all and were willing to follow the call of the heart and mind. Idealists, they did not spare themselves, engaging in unequal combat with the opposing force. It is dangerous, it is difficult, it may ultimately be fatal. However, such their actions teach us to be brave and true to our conscience.

At the end, I would like to say something about the musical component. There are a lot of songs in the movie, and they are really good. A lot of melodies are catchy, the lyrics come across as colorful and literally chopping, showing the brutal truth about the world in which the characters of the piece live.

"Les Miserables" is definitely memorable. The movie musical is one of the few pictures that successfully combines the best of cinematography. It is definitely worth watching this adaptation of the novel by Victor Hugo to feel this story in a completely different way than before and to remember the bright world, which was given to us by the team of the picture's creators.
