Red. The color of fierce hatred, the color of true love, the color of unbridled passion and the color of deep loneliness, however strange it may sound. Blood red. It attracts with its strength, but by the same it irritates, sometimes enchants, and sometimes drives you crazy. Reddish, with shades of red, rusty. He is life itself. The color of life. That very "strange thing" that they have been trying to understand for years, centuries, millennia, until the realization comes that it is impossible to understand it in principle. One can only guess, listening to the phone calls of neighbors, be surprised to see a familiar girl on a huge poster on the street, rejoice, knocking down all the pins on the track with a red ball. You can be sad if you accidentally hit someone's dog, or you can stop breathing when you realize that there is nothing to hope for and there is nothing to wait any longer. You can just live - as the heroes of the painting "Red", which concludes the trilogy of Krzysztof Kieslowski "Three Colors", live, these fictional characters, sometimes so reminiscent of ourselves.

Quiet serenity, multiplied by the unshakable vitality of the "Blue", caustic irony, crossed with the timid reverie of the "White", is crowned with a truly royal "Red". Here the ball is ruled by His Majesty Chance (or is it Fate?), Weaving the lives of different people into a ball. With all their external and internal dissimilarity, it suddenly turns out that before you are real heroes-doubles, characters-reflections of each other. So strange, so familiar. Three heroes, three lives, one color.

Red, like beauty itself, like a heavy bundle of experiences - a young model Valentine. Beautiful, both outside and inside, open to people and the world. But here's the bad luck - short phone conversations with someone who never appears in the frame - instead of love. The problems of her younger brother, which she is ready to take for her own and the feeling of guilt that she spends little time with her mother - instead of her family. Regular photo sessions, shows, choreography classes are a typical daily routine. And loneliness is instead of life.

Red, like resentment and conscience, is an elderly lonely man. Referee. It doesn't matter that he retired a long time ago - the profession leaves its mark. He is too demanding of people, but even more strict with himself. He cannot forgive, he cannot let go of the past, freeing himself from its shackles. His loneliness is an old abandoned house and a loyal dog.

Red, like energy and jealousy - novice lawyer Auguste, in love, hardworking. Perhaps a little weak. Ready to work all day, just to get the opportunity to become who he wants. Willing to love, but unwilling to forgive. Unable to hurt those he loves or once loved. Perhaps a real Judge will emerge from him - a just one. And instead of loneliness, happiness awaits him.

Two loneliness will converge in this tape at one table: a glass of pear liqueur and conversations about the past and the future. Lonely Beauty and even lonely Conscience. They will not talk about the present - why? We must not talk about the present, they must live. Another thing is the past and the future - memories and dreams ... And the third loneliness is always somewhere nearby, but a meeting with him will only happen by chance. Or Destiny.

All shades of red, the smallest halftones of feelings, a wonderful bouquet of simple everyday magic, amazing beauty of the frame, delightful music and a timid desire to make this world a better place - this is what "Red" is. A universal tape, at the same time striking in its depth, deceptive simplicity, lightness and giving the viewer the most important thing - hope. The last minutes of the tape are like the final chord to the whole trilogy. Krzysztof Kieslowski, as a true creator, loves his heroes. He gives them the most priceless. He makes his viewer happy.

Beauty itself and life itself permeated this picture completely, filling it thereby with the subtle scent of a fairy tale and giving the viewer faith in miracles that, fortunately, exist.
