Review 4K Movie
For director Carl Franklin, the dramatic thriller 'One Wrong Move' could have been a launching point into the world of big projects with Hollywood's top movie studios. It was for this movie that Franklin received his biggest award - MTV gave him a statuette as the most promising first-time director. However, even before 'One Wrong Move' he had a couple of pictures ('Eagle Eye 2: Inside the Enemy' and 'Nowhere to Run'), but they did not bring him dividends. Later there were a few more quite decent tapes, among which can be distinguished 'True Values' with Meryl Streep and 'Major Crimes' with Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman, but after 2003 Carl Franklin devotes himself to work on television, filming a good couple dozen series. But, returning to 'One Wrong Move', really turned out to be a good movie in its own way, strong, with content and multi-layered characters, which are perfectly embodied by the actors. And among them one of the main roles was played by Billy Bob Thornton.
So, Billy Bob wrote the script for 'One Wrong Move' together with playwright Tom Epperson, with whom they would later work together a few more times. And tells us the plot of the movie about how two scumbag killers together with a black girl brutally kill several people for money stored in the house where this terrible crime took place, and then go on the run. But on their way to escape from justice they are pursued by a policeman, who serves in a small town. With each of his approach the atmosphere becomes more and more tense, the detective realizes that he hangs on the tail of the killers, but at the same time his life becomes in greater and greater danger, because the suspects will not spare him to avoid being in the electric chair. But in the midst of all this, it is suddenly brought out that the very same black female tipster and the policeman are connected by something and this 'something' can lay the investigation of the crime in the most unexpected moment. The policeman will face the most difficult choice in his life ...
This is the kind of script Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson have in store for us. Fans of well-described characters, the movie 'One Wrong Move' will be a hundred percent suitable for leisure time. Especially since, as indicated above, the actors did a great job. Another thing that the picture did not become popular with us because of the fact that the movie and let strong, but it is strong in the American way. Carl Franklin shamelessly copied a similar genre film of 1973 'Badlands', directed by Terrence Malick with Martin Sheenov in the title role. Even the manner of the visuals was copied by cinematographer James L. Carter. That said, one must keep in mind that this isn't really a bad thing. Bad is when the repetition is done sloppily, without a thoughtful approach, and in 'One Wrong Move' this is not the case: Carl Franklin tried and tried unsuccessfully to echo 'Badlands' without making his picture a pathetic parody of Malick's famous movie. So it makes perfect sense why Franklin won his award from MTV.
But could this have happened if the actors hadn't done their job? No. So Franklin can be grateful to those who agreed to participate without letting their director down. For example, Michael Beach, who played one of the killers, was frightening in his naturalness. At first glance - quite a calm black man with an intelligent appearance, but when you see a knife in his hands, then.... And in general, you can experience those emotions if you agree to watch 'One Wrong Move'. Billy Bob Thornton was kind of a bandit leader, a ruthless beast, but he still retained something of a man when you compare his character to Michael Beach. Bill Paxton's character has the screen character nickname 'Hurricane'. To be honest, it's not really clear why, because he was more of an apathetic character and his emotions only exploded when the shadows of the past thoroughly affected him. But there Paxton just beautiful, perfectly showed his character in a situation between life and death. And I really want to praise Cinda Williams, who was a pity on the one hand, and on the other - she got involved with the wrong people, but who is guilty of this?
