Review 4K Movie

One of the first Harrison Ford movies I ever saw. It was back in the early 90s. The impressions were wonderful, and at the time I didn't really understand why. Now, as I think, I understand: the film has its own face. First of all, the color scheme is striking - the whole 'picture' is in calm greenish tones, and this visual idyll brings the planned dissonance to the criminal plot, which, in fact, is standard.

Now I realize that this very strong 'action movie' (in the Russian terminology of the 90s) does not look that way precisely because of the non-standard camerawork. That's why I want to watch the movie many times. However, the acting is also good. The wonderful phrase of the Quaker elder blessing the road: 'Careful there, with those Englishmen! ' Not everyone will realize that for a German-speaking community living under nineteenth-century laws, there is no such nation as Americans in principle! Out there, outside the Quaker world, it is 'the English'.

Another 'scene for the ages' is the episode of Ford's hero flirting with a pretty Quaker woman (McGillis) in the garage to Eddie Cochran's wonderful song 'What A Wonderful World'. It's a cute little tune and the lyrics are silly ('I don't know any history / I don't know any botany / I don't know much about science / I'm just sure of one thing / If you and I are together / It'll be a sunny day any day / What A Wonderful World is just for us! ') - but in this context it is a frightening force! All the puritanical inhibitions of the community crumble like a castle on sand - and McGillis is very successful in this moment of final hesitation. Bravo!
