For his filmography, I've been watching for a long time and do not say that it is something exceptional - his best work for all time, I believe, was the trailer "Thanksgiving" from the "Grindhouse" Tarantino / Rodriguez. But it can not be said that the guy is devoid of talent, he just did not seem to know how to properly use it. And what was my surprise after watching his last, at the moment, project, "The Thirst for Death," where almost everything I'd expected from Eli all these years, he presented on the screen.

BDRemux: is a remake of a cult band from the 70's with Charles Bronson, who in the new version was replaced by Bruce Willis, who for some time gives a commendable performance. Just note that the comparison with the original in this review will not be, because I'm just not familiar with it. Plus, I immediately warn all viewers who, when starting with viewing, hope to see here some twisted and complex plot. At the heart of the film is absolutely typical story about the revenge of the main character for the pain inflicted on his close ones. To scold for this, in my opinion, is stupid, because from any story you can make an interesting movie, it all depends on the filing. And with this, Eli Roth coped very skillfully - from the very beginning the picture captures the viewer in tension, the frames often look damn stylish, and, what is most striking, the film is full of emotional weight, the characters are sympathetic and even worried for them. And this is after the "Green Hell", where you just want a speedy death to all the characters of the tape.

I really liked that the situation in the film is viewed from different sides and opinions, and it is done very competently - it gives some food for thought and makes the cinema at times more enthralling, while the makers of the tape never take one clear position. From this, the film becomes more multifaceted than it really is. The police here are not hopeless idiots, as we often see in such pictures, they are trying to solve the case, but external factors do not always allow it. And the protagonist is not the savior of the world at all, but only a person who has survived a great grief, and now acts as he thinks is right. And only bandits are absolute villains.

The painting pays homage to a lot of similar tapes from the 70's and 80's and this is felt throughout the film, which gives aesthetic pleasure. There are a lot of characters here, almost everyone is given enough time to open up and everyone is able to fall in love with the viewer, so you spend time in joy. You want to spend time with these characters, and the movie takes place almost in one breath, no hanging was noticed. This is a fairly easy movie, for which you do not have time to get bored. However, unfortunately, this is also the Achilles' heel of the film - it has enough different directing and camera solutions to get pleasure, but this is not always enough to really stay in memory, leave a mark in the viewer's head. After a while, there is hardly much to remember from the movie. And yet, "Death Wish" Ultra HD still deserves a chance. I'm sure this movie will be to the liking of many.
