Yeah... This guy's father is quite a character. But if you ignore the fact that his father is a thief, a murderer, and a dangerous guy, I would say that in other respects they are like most other families...

And that's what happened: his son screwed up, he didn't turn out to be a thief, but that's not even the point. The point is that the greatest danger threatening him was his father, and all the other failures were just child's play. But it all starts well—the boy is fascinated by his father and looks up to him. He likes that he has money and cars, that he is such a businesslike man, unlike his stepfather, a loser who has already gotten on his nerves. The boy is drawn to strong personalities like his father. He wants to be the same, and he tells his stepfather that he does what he wants, I want to watch TV and drink the most expensive beer that you, you idiot, can't afford.
But his father's charm is deceptive, and his mother and grandmother warned him about this. He is a thief, a lone wolf who looks out for himself. Life has made him a predator without remorse. He kills informers and despises cowardice. He can have no loved ones or friends, only members of his wolf pack, whom he helps and protects. And when you stick to your guns, you become nothing more than a dangerous witness, a potential snitch—this thief will not spare even his own son. And perhaps the tragedy is not even that you might be killed. The saddest thing is that your father wants to kill you—the father you need so much, the person who should love you more than anyone else in the world, but this father just smirks, with his soulless smirk through his mustache, as only Christopher Walken can do,
a smile that does not bode well, it only says that he already knows how he will ruin the guy's life, but his reaction is laughter, a smirk, malice, but not the malice of someone who always loses, but of someone who always defeats others, and we see that his heart does not flinch, he is calm, like a boa constrictor, he doesn't care, all he cares about is himself and his own survival in this cruel world.

This is what the film is аbout: how a guy wanted to find his father, learn his profession, succeed, earn money for himself and his girlfriend, start a family, find happiness, but got into trouble instead. His father and his gang already laughed at these naive dreams of a family nest...

A thief with his unstable life and this guy's dream of a wife, children, and a home are simply incompatible. Even his father couldn't make it work, even though he was smarter than him. Precisely because he was a thief, the boy grew up without a father and didn't know what happiness was like when the whole family was together, with mom and dad nearby, instead of his father always being in prison, leaving him alone with his mother, both of their lives ruined by such a father. And now he shows up, fate gives the boy a chance to be with his father? And how can he resist after so many years of waiting for his dad?

It all reminds me of a board game. You roll the dice, and your token lands on a square with two crossed pistols on it, which means robbers, and this guy's token landed on this dangerous square that doesn't bode well.
