This is a fascinating road movie that does not revolve solely around the protagonist and his misdeeds, as one might initially assume based on the film's title. At first, it demonstrates the relationship issues between a husband and wife who are tired of each other, and only later does it intertwine with the road theme. This creates a winding storyline.

The complicated relationship within Walter and Eva Mancini's family is presented in a sarcastic light. The antics of Walter, played by Franco Nero, fuel interest in further events. The character is a cheeky drunk, but at the same time, he is far from stupid.

One can argue about whether the image of a clever boor is positive, but in any case, he is attractive. Either way, Walter's antics are amusing. Eva, played by Corinne Clery, in turn, reflects the more reserved and rational side of this couple.

The appearance of Adam Konitz, the actual travel companion, reminds us that this is a road thriller rather than just a tragicomedy about a husband and wife's relationship. David Hess does an excellent job in the role of Adam, perfectly embodying the image of a slippery character who is similar to Walter in temperament and is not inferior to him in intellectual abilities.

The situation after the travel companion's true intentions are revealed is, of course, tense, but there is also sarcasm, which is evident from the very first moments of Walter's acquaintance with Adam, neither of whom mince words.

So it all comes together in a vivid film with completely unexpected plot twists. What we see is not a standard attack by a highway bandit on a victim destined by fate, but a colorful adventure with all the consequences that follow.
Suspense, comedy, drama, eroticism—this film has it all. Some scenes are quite harsh. The spectacular action is enhanced by Ennio Morricone's soundtrack, which is colorful and creates the right atmosphere where necessary. A thrilling film for fans of action-packed cinema.
