Story Movie

As is often the case in life, it all started with an innocent desire to make some money. A young law student named Martin took a job as a night watchman at a hospital. He was absolutely certain he’d found an “easy” job where no one would distract him or interfere with his studies. But Martin was terribly mistaken... It so happened that the bodies of young women—brutally murdered by a bloodthirsty serial killer on the loose in the city—were being brought to the hospital’s morgue. Very strange things began to happen in the morgue. The living enter the silent world of the dead, and things get truly terrifying. After all, the dead can no longer defend themselves...

Review 4K Movie

But I got lucky. For one thing, I had NO idea this was some kind of remake of some other movie. And most thrillers and horror movies just pass me by, so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. Besides, I’ve long since gotten used to watching mystery movies without trying to guess how it’ll all end or who the killer, thief, or whoever else is. And what I’m getting at is that I actually liked the movie. On the one hand, I agree with those who say, yes—it’s not a masterpiece, and yes, there are clichés and tropes; however, when I watch a movie, I don’t watch it like a surgeon or a pathologist with the goal of dissecting it down to the bone while it’s still twitching.

Now, on to the movie.

First, the plot is perfectly watchable. Sure, I agree—it’s another serial killer story, with innocent victims, setups, and so on. So what? It’s actually quite entertaining, even if it’s a one-time watch.

Second, the actors. For a film clearly aimed at a young audience, they look and perform very convincingly.

Third, the trees. They’re definitely worth an extra plus.

Fourth. THIS IS NOT A THRILLER. It’s a mystery. And if you watch it that way, everything falls into place. The point of a mystery isn’t to scare you, but to unravel a certain mystery, little by little, even if the answer is as clear as day.

Fifth: the visuals. To be honest, they’re a bit lacking. Sure, there are some interesting shots, but for a movie like this, there are way too few of them.

Sixth: the soundtrack. Well, it works fine as an iPod commercial—or whatever he was listening to—and there’s even some variety.

Seventh and last, something I could list as a plus—or at least the illusion of one—is the main character’s “best friend” (in quotes or without them). It’s sort of an attempt to play at *Fight Club*. I think, out of all the characters, he turned out to be the most vivid and interesting of them all.

The main downsides are, for example, the dialogue. At times, it felt like the characters simply had nothing to say. This was especially annoying during moments when silence wasn’t golden.

The second downside is the romance subplot. In my opinion, it came across as somewhat stilted and forced. It’s as if it was supposed to be there, so they just crammed it in.

The third downside—no matter how much I try to ignore them—is the clichés. Perhaps it’s precisely because of them that I won’t watch it a second time. But I watched it the first time and was satisfied.
