Review 4K Movie

Orson Welles became an icon of cinema, who introduced new concepts of genres, technological innovations to Hollywood and opened the world to drama in an accessible way. His famous creation "Citizen Kane" caused a sensation at the time (the height of the Second World War), when tired people needed to be distracted from cruelty and violence, when they needed a look at everyday problems and relationships between a man and a woman.

For me, the film is not bad, it demonstrates fatigue from the monotony of living together, reveals the inner qualities of a person and conveys to the audience the idea that love is not the presence of material values, but attention, understanding and care. Orson Welles not only conveyed a cold and calculating person, but also showed that there is always a place for light in a dark soul.

Who is Charles Foster Kane? Wells begins the story with a documentary about Mr. Kane to create an impression of the man and also to bring events to the death of the protagonist. Yes, newspapers in all languages report Kane's death. In Russian, too, headlines flutter. Hence the development of flashback, but information is presented very skillfully and dosed. Thanks to the documentary chronicle, everyone is in the head with the image of the newspaper tycoon who took The Inquirer to a new level, acquired industrial complexes and became the richest man in the country.

The detective thread originates just from the last minutes of the tycoon, when the phrase “rosebud” becomes the last words. This is where we dive into Kane's real life. The film starts with an already successful person and leads him through achievements, aspiration and perfectly conveys the attitude of others towards him. Charles reminds me of the "Fitzgerald" Great Gatsby, who, despite all his success, collides with the bond of love. A romantic detail that will forever change the hero's life pours in as a happy event.

In the course of the present time, the correspondent meets with various people who crossed paths with Kane during his lifetime. Thus, people close to him tell completely different details that are absent in the perception of others. The picture begins to acquire a certain shadow of doubt and is ruthless about the excuses for actions, and the newspaperman is more and more plunged into nervousness, cruelty and adheres to his opinion (the most important opinion!).

The film is characterized by smooth editing transitions without snatches of frames, which is easily and tenderly perceived by the viewer. Noir atmosphere reserves the right to ask questions and receive answers that are not very pleasant. I was also impressed by the episode when months of relationships pass at the dinner table, by the characters you understand how this relationship developed. Kane is moving farther and farther away from the editorial board, moving to the political field, and the more dangerous his games are, the more this is reflected in the hero's personal life.

Until the very last episode, the mystery of the rosebud remains unsolved, but she buries the connection with the past with herself in the fire. Citizen Kane is a demonstration of what is meant by wealth and opportunities that are not important to true feelings and a loving person nearby. You can move mountains in front of a lady, give her all sorts of things, build theaters and castles for her, but if there is no understanding and value of a person, then the rosebud begins to fade, relying only on its own strength. The metaphor is good.

The climactic episodes fully convey the atmosphere of a stupor, the irresistible weight of imaginary care and captive love, so the viewer changes his attitude towards Citizen Kane. The saving straw is still "Rosebud", as if to justify the character.
