After a very long time interval of eight long years, after the impressive success of the thriller 'Death Wish', its director-director Michael Winner decides to stage a direct sequel, for which the second time involves Mr. Bronson in the lead role of the leading actor. And the filming process actively begins...

Almost from the very first minutes of the movie, the indisputable fact that the sequel was shot just for the money catches the viewer's eye. First of all, this is evidenced by the rather secondary plot. Secondly, the acting is simply inept, even Bronson does not strain much, due to the simplicity of the dialogues written for his character. Third, the creators almost completely abandoned the dramatic component and drawing of the inner world of the main character, dissolving everything in the active exploitation of senseless violence and constant action.

Fans of the original film still remain puzzled: how could they do such a thing to the source material? Did Wigner and Bronson not understand anything at all? Of course they didn't. On the contrary, inspired by the tremendous success of the then most popular movies with Chuck Norris and Sylvester Stallone, they made their own movie by their rules. The film is truly dynamic, very brutal, and the main character was given not only the ability to shoot a single without missing, but also the ability to remain completely unharmed by an enemy bullet under any circumstances. Even with such unconditional pluses, this action film was noticeably weaker than the original, which, apart from explosions and gunfire, also had drama, a strong atmosphere and had 'lively' characters.

As a result, Death Wish 2 is a rather funny farce, made exclusively on the wave of the enormous success of the really excellent first film and of Michael Winner and Charles Bronson's desire to show off for the audience. But in spite of all its shortcomings, the film is very well made and, most importantly, it is quite interesting to watch.
