Gretel and Hansel 4K 2020 Ultra HD 2160p
Since childhood, Gretel loved the story about a girl in a pink hat who showed magical abilities Now, almost an adult, after an unsuccessful attempt to get a job as a servant, Gretel, along with her younger brother Hansel, finds herself without a home - her mother kicks them out, deciding that the children should be on their own care. Wandering through the woods and suffering from hunger, Gretel and Hansel stumble upon a suspicious hut, where they find a table covered with food. As if someone was waiting for them to appear.

Review 4K Movie

Many fairy tales we know well are not nearly as harmless as they seem. Yes, they talk about magical things, valiant heroes and distant wondrous lands, but if you dig a little deeper, it becomes clear that darkness and horror are also imprisoned in them, from which it is better to protect children. One of the most popular and at the same time ominous fairy tales is considered to be "Hansel and Gretel" by the brothers Grimm ...

And if you think that you know everything about it, then you are mistaken, because despite the fact that the fairy tale itself was published in 1812, its roots go back to the troubled 14th century, when people died from terrible diseases and hunger. Now the time has come to radically rethink the story we all know in the film Gretel and Hansel. And you will soon find out why the names of the main characters were rearranged among themselves.

The plot takes us into difficult, one might say nightmarish times, when it was much easier for parents to kill their children, or drive them out of the house, rather than feed and take care of them. Fortunately for Gretel and her younger brother Hansel, they managed to survive in such a nightmarish situation, but this is where their adventures only begin. Having found a strange, suspicious house in the forest with an abnormally welcoming hostess, whose table is bursting with delicacies, the children timidly accept the invitation and thus find themselves at the mercy of a witch, who has her own special plans for both the boy and his sister.

Director Oz Perkins, by the way the son of that very Anthony Perkins from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, decided to shift the focus of the story to Gretel, and therefore put her name first on the list. It was interesting for him to tell us the story of the girl's formation, her inner transformations and feelings, from which her age was raised from 12 to 16. Thanks to this, we got the opportunity to penetrate much deeper into her psychology, to understand why she loves her brother so much, for which she is ready to save him. But personally, it was much more interesting for me to find out what kind of power lurks in Gretel, and what will happen when she awakens.

The role of Gretel went to Sophia Lillis. We know her mainly from the "It" dilogy from Andy Muschetti. You can talk a lot about the film adaptation of King, scold or praise it, but most viewers and critics agree that Lillis played there almost the best. But in the image of Gretel, she looks no worse, and maybe even better. Difficult relations with parents, the threat of death, fear for a brother, mysticism and magic - that only Gretel does not have to go through, and together with her and you and me. It's both terribly exciting and truly scary at the same time.

The visual side of the film also impressed me pleasantly. The gorgeous Irish landscapes were a real decoration for Gretel and Hansel. It is impossible to look away from them. You seem to understand that terrible, devilish things are happening in the forest, but how damn beautiful it is. Thanks to the talented camera work, you just sit in a chair and enjoy the incredible views, literally devour the film with your eyes, and this is exactly what I wanted so much.

There is no doubt, and there cannot be. I advise you to go on this adventure and I guarantee that it will delight you with something special, unexpected and sinister. This reading of the classics pleasantly surprised me.
