Story Movie

Klaus Kinski is superb as Jackmel, a German criminal who kidnaps an American boy living in London. He is aided in this by the teen's servants. Through ignorance, the boy accidentally acquires a poisonous snake intended for toxicologist Dr. Marion Stowe and the deadly reptile is on the loose somewhere in the house. The characters are clearly divided into good and bad, and all the villains get what they deserve. There's a quietly dominating menace from Kinski, and Reed is good as an explosive, brutal villain always ready for violence.

Review 4K Movie

This movie turned out to be too diverse. And it was up to the director to bring everything into balance. But in reality we get two not very believable stories. In the foreground is a story of several criminals trying to take a young child hostage for ransom..... And on closer inspection, a thriller about a snake in a private home. A dangerous and aggressive mamba, through a bizarre mistake, ends up in the house at exactly the moment when a family is undergoing a planned attack.

Each of these storylines lacks plausibility. The criminals depicted demanding ransom do exactly nothing to improve their situation. It's more like a few nondescript, defenseless troublemakers.

Well, everything about the snake is equally questionable. And it's not just the reasons why it seemed to be in this particular house. The snake's behavior itself is devoid of intrigue - it is as if a naive statistician chooses exactly those victims that the director needs....

So, neither the story about the aggressive snake, nor the story about the kidnappers was not really unfolded....

That would have been the end of the review. But... This movie has a very powerful cast. The criminals are played by Klaus Kinski, Oliver Reed and Susan George. The policeman is Nicol Williamson. And yet in the picture attracted Sarah Miles and Sterling Hayden. They're really 'acting' artists. Even despite the 'slumbering' concept each of the actors puts something memorable: a scream from Sarah Miles, attacks of unmotivated aggression from Oliver Reed, heroic smile - from Sterling Hayden, a hint of erotic scene from Susan George ...

Nicol Williamson has managed to get into the role very accurately. This is exactly what a police inspector should be - no bravado, no 'special effects', only focus on the process.

It is the acting ensemble in a way 'pulls' the tape. All the director has to do here is not to interfere with them and just make an 'even' linear story
