Review 4K Movie

Asian Orlando Bloom, after a fun Friday night party with his friends, returns home with his girlfriend. And since our hero is somewhat tipsy, the lady of his heart is behind the wheel. Innocent compliments distract mademoiselle from the road, and she runs over the girl. Orlando Bloom, who turned out to be a very cowardly guy, demands to immediately flee the scene of the crime, which is immediately and executed, although not very willingly. And then, of course, our heroes will be punished for their misdemeanor, but not simple, but very, very terrible, for you will be judged by your deeds.

It is unlikely that Koji Suzuki, who created his novel “The Call” in the early nineties, assumed that, despite the fact that his book will never be awarded the title of bestseller, it will generate such a huge number of screenings, and the image of a girl in a white dress, whose face is curtained by long black as tar hair, will become one of the most memorable images in the world history of horror films. This image, rooted in ancient Japanese ghost stories called kaidanami, of course, and previously used in Asian horror films, but only as a result of the release of the film “The Call”, became known and recognizable to the whole world.

What does the Thai movie “The Shutter” have to do with all this? The most direct. In addition to the fact that the plot of the movie is nothing but another fantasy on the theme of “Revenge of an undead ghost of a poor girl who once died in the throes of hell”, from the very beginning “Shutter” demonstrates a standard set of horror chips, taken from known where. Here and bending in voluptuous and frightening poses with unnatural twisting of limbs, Thai beauty, always long-haired and hiding her face with her shiny dark curls, here and water procedures, overshadowed by the sudden appearance of the ghost and his slow rise from the bathtub, here and bleeding eyes, here and mouths, opened in such a way that the tonsils can be studied meticulously and in detail.

Release a similar crafted by Americans, the picture would be lost between hundreds of others like it, barely getting to five rating points on movie search, which for many horror fans are a kind of dividing line (if the picture has crossed this threshold, then you can watch, if not - goodbye and do not get bored). But “Shutter” is a Thai horror movie, and there's something strangely appealing about it, as there is about all Thai horror movies. Many times used techniques and managed to fill up the familiar here look like and to the place and, damn it, even frightening, and the story really fascinates, although the plot twists are guessed rather quickly and without much tension gray cells. And the ending, which was moderately unexpected for the viewer, gave the movie a little dramatic overlay and a pinch of philosophy, which in this case played a key role in creating a pleasant aftertaste. All this, of course, has been seen and heard, and even more than once, but the secret is not in the story, but in the storyteller, right?
