Story Movie

For two months, student Stephanie has been having the same horrible dream about people dying in the collapse of a TV tower in the 1960s. Suspecting that this nightmare is connected to her family, the girl returns home to find out about her grandmother, with whom her parents and uncle and aunt have long since severed all ties, as they consider her a dangerous madwoman obsessed with the idea of death.

Review 4K Movie

Final Destination: Bloodlines is wonderful from the first frame to the last. Seriously. It has everything that audiences loved about the first film in the franchise 25 years ago. It surprises, scares, and amuses. It doesn't try to create unnecessary intrigue or be a meaningless attraction. And it doesn't aim to make viewers wait for a sequel in a new film (which is very important and valuable, considering how often, instead of a full-fledged film, viewers have been fed “the first chapter” in recent years).

Final Destination: Bloodlines begins in the past, in the 1960s. A young couple goes to the opening of a sensational new restaurant located in a tower. The floors there are glass, the height is enormous, and the builders completed the project a full five months ahead of schedule... Naturally, viewers will very quickly be able to enjoy the spectacular destruction of this tower. And here we must give credit to the filmmakers - despite the fact that the previous five Final Destination films have already corrupted viewers as much as possible with their sophisticated and absurd murders, they still managed to create a vivid, unexpected, and spectacular series of disasters.

Everyone dies epically. But then the narrative takes a huge leap forward in time. We find ourselves in the present day with a new heroine — a girl who dreams of this whole retro nightmare with a restaurant on a tower. It soon turns out that this girl is the granddaughter born to the daughter of that very young couple. And the dream is a vision that her grandmother saw on that fateful day. She saved herself and many other people. And it took decades for death to catch up with all its victims. And while it was doing so, people managed to start families - and now death comes not only for the survivors. But also for those who should never have been born.

In short, the plot of Final Destination: Bloodlines traditionally repeats the structure of the original, but enlivens it, turning it into the story of one doomed family.

Every death here is unimaginable and vivid. The plot is full of surprises. The film sparkles with humor, but it does not descend into self-parody. Unlike the previous three parts of the franchise, it is not turned into a mindless attraction of deaths. In it, as in the first series, a lot of space is given to the detective component.

Of course, Final Destination: Bloodlines is not without its flaws. Some of the characters, their actions, and the events unfolding around them seem rather ridiculous. The authors brought Tony Todd, who starred in the first installment, back into the film, and his dialogue with the characters seemed as artificial and meaningless as possible. It is obvious that today's Hollywood has convinced itself that audiences love these kinds of references and that they must be crammed in everywhere. But I think the new film would have benefited if the writers hadn't had to stretch things so far.

Another downside is that in Final Destination: Bloodlines, it's very obvious that a lot of it was filmed in a studio rather than on location.

But the pros more than outweigh the cons in this film. It's easy to forgive the minor flaws. Because the main thing this film has is a story you want to know. And there are characters whose fate you want to follow.

Yes... It's that simple.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is an excellent film. It borrowed from the original what made it a legend. It added a pinch of novelty. It didn't add rainbow colors and other ideology. It packed everything into an energetic hour-and-a-half spectacle. And it didn't leave its followers any loopholes to exploit their brainchild — if you want a sequel, come up with characters and a story from scratch. Like they did.

Incidentally, Final Destination was launched by the same screenwriter who successfully breathed new life into the Scream horror franchise a couple of years ago. His name is Guy Busick. He is 50 years old. And he understands exactly why people love horror movies and how to combine fear with laughter in them.
