After the accident, the girl is at death's door, conventional medicine is unable to save her. Then the doctors decide to try new methods and drugs. As a result, the girl is on the mend. It would seem that everything is fine, but the drugs have a terrible side effect: the girl has a hole under her arm, from where a sting comes out from time to time. With this sting she drinks the blood of her victims, because in moments of hunger she does not control herself. After a while, the victims of the unusual vampire show signs of rabies.

Rabid is David Cronenberg's second feature film. After Shivers in 1975, the director made another exciting and suspenseful film. Rabid is now rightly considered a cult classic in the horror genre. It is a very creepy and frightening film about people who turn into terrifying madmen after being bitten by the deadly sting of a girl suffering from an unknown disease.

The plot of the film revolves around a girl named Rose, played by Marilyn Chambers, who gets into a motorcycle accident with her friend Hart, played by Frank Moore. Hart ends up with only a slight scare, but Rose is not so lucky; she suffers severe burns and needs surgery. The girl ends up in a hospital where they perform various experimental surgeries. The doctor, wanting to save Rose, performs a dubious skin transplant operation. As a result, the girl's life is saved, but there is a side effect. Rose develops a terrifying sting under her armpit, which she uses to drive everyone around her insane.

This film is stunning in its gloom and doom. The atmosphere of hopelessness in the film is conveyed magnificently. The scale of the infection grows very quickly and soon becomes a national disaster, and a state of emergency is declared. Cronenberg conveys all this so powerfully and impressively that you find yourself mesmerized by the action as you watch the film. It's impossible to tear yourself away from the screen. People-mutants are being mowed down by machine guns in large numbers, and you sit in front of the screen wondering what solution will be found to this catastrophic situation.

The pretty Marilyn Chambers, a porn star of the time, was invited to play the role of the infected girl. As it turned out, she can do more than just star in adult films. Chambers played her role so well that you would think she was a top-class genre film actress. But by and large, this is her only role that made her so famous. In the film, we can see all her eroticism, which she conveyed to her character. This wild mixture of eroticism and madness is impressive. Joe Silver, who played the doctor, also starred in other Cronenberg films and achieved fame not only thanks to this film, but also thanks to a number of other films. He is always recognizable and his acting is always of a very high standard. The other actors did not go on to have great careers in cinema.
