Bubba Ritter, a mentally challenged young man, is unjustly accused of killing a little girl. A mob of angry citizens takes revenge on him. But soon, one of the attackers mysteriously dies.

The 1981 television film Dark Night of the Scarecrow is an unremarkable clone of Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street rolled into one. However, it is dozens of times less ambitious, and there is not a drop of blood in the entire film. When there is an opportunity to show the viewer a beautiful murder of another victim, the camera is politely moved to a neighboring area. It's a shame, because the scarecrow theme was a very original idea at the time.

Overall, even though the film is more than 30 years old, it is quite watchable, but the television format has had a detrimental effect on it, and as a result, it is boring and predictable to watch. And by the way, predictability is not so bad. Isn't it for the atmosphere that we watch horror movies from the 80s? If there had been bloody and original murders, the film might well have remained in my memory, but alas.
