On Tuesday, Cindy Campbell’s youngest daughter is attacked by the Ghost Face. Her older daughter, Sarah, sets out to find her mother, who has become a recluse, and together with Brenda Mix’s extended family, they try to stop the latest wave of murders in Woodsville.

I love horror movies and I love comedy movies. It's almost like the Scary Movie series was made for me. The original is one of my favorite comedies of all time (9 stars). And with the seeming extinction of comedy movies, I was desperate for this, especially with the original cast.

Unfortunately, it just wasn't that funny. I would say 5% of the jokes made me fully laugh, 20% made me chuckle, 20% made me smile, 50% did nothing for me, and 5% made me roll my eyes. That's not a good hit rate. By comparison, I estimated an 85% hit rate for Naked Gun from last year (8 stars).

I'm not really sure why. It's probably mostly on the writing. But I also wasn't laughing at the cast and their natural ability to be funny like in the past. Except for Marlon and his stupid laugh.

It makes me sad. I thought we were seeing the return of stoopid movies. But they have to be better than this. And I don't think I'm the only one that will feel this way. I was in a sold out theater and it was fairly quiet. By comparison, Naked Gun had 20% of the audience and I could hear people dying laughing.
