Barb and Star, two thick as thieves, who have worked in a furniture store for most of their lives. When the store closes, the ladies find themselves at a loss and do not know what to do next. So they hatch a desperate plan by their standards: to go to a resort in Vista Del Mar...

Thanks to Kinopoisk and Stanislav Zelvensky with his selection. I had never even heard of this movie until I read about it on Stanislav's list. Watched it and didn't regret it. Great eccentric comedy with the charming Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo. Funny, crazy, vivid. Wasn't expecting it at all.

In the beginning we are introduced to the main villain(Wiig) and her minions. The scene is so fucked up that it makes your jaw drop a little and makes you wonder: is this really that movie? The familiarity of it, as a whole, sets the tone for the whole narrative. Next, the attention shifts to the very Barb(Mumolo)and Star(Whig again) from the title. And that's something to see. Or rather listen. Dialogues like a machine gun, the choice of topics is absolutely random. Here they are talking about one thing, then immediately switched to another, the next moment it's a third. And the conversation about Trish is great. The chemistry between the actresses is top-notch, so you can immerse yourself in their relationship. I don't know about anyone, but it reminded me of 'Dumb and Dumber', the female version. They talk a complete load of crap, but do it so nice and funny that it's just impossible not to laugh.

After arriving at the resort, the humor shifts more and more toward the eccentric. I mean, there are two musical numbers, which are like a snowball's throw from my head. But still, as I felt, in this part the picture sags a little, just a little bit. Not critical at all, the more the action is diluted with a cartoon villain, and in addition, one of the henchmen named Darlie Bunkle, played by Damon Wayans Jr., appears in this segment. It's memorable for a long time.

To summarize. A crazy, in a good way, and funny comedy with great acting, almost no below-the-belt humor, well, with few exceptions. As practice shows, true pearls don't hide where we look for them and you have to dive deep to get a really valuable specimen.
