Review 4K Movie

Taking blood baths while hacking away at a victim writhing on top—that’s inhumane; cutting off the reproductive organs of a bound man in front of his fellow men—that’s inhumane; playing soccer with a girl’s severed head—that’s inhuman, too. In terms of torture, the sequel even outdid the first installment. Stephen King himself noted in an interview that he had never seen anything more horrific or repulsive and would never in a million years write anything like it.

“Hostel 2” is definitely not for the faint of heart. Here, rich bastards aren’t just running wild with their wealth—they’re ready to cut that very fat off each other’s bodies without a second thought, using any tool at hand. And as if it were the natural order of things, the sole surviving lot from the auction—a fragile young woman who, when it comes to torture, has outdone all the psychopaths combined—accepts the rules of the game. Yes, there’s nothing you wouldn’t do to stay alive. With such success, actress Laura German risks becoming the new queen of horror—and not in the role of a victim like Jamie Lee Curtis or Neve Campbell.

The believability and realism of the scenes are shocking, as is the sheer abundance of killings. But the greatest horror lies in the fact that everything happening on screen is also reality—the other reality that fills the pages of newspapers under the “Crime” section.
