Story Movie

In the forest infamous for the events of the first film, a local television company is filming a reality show in the spirit of “The Last Hero.” The participants of the project will have to live the lifestyle of primitive tribes without modern means of communication... much to the delight of the cannibals living nearby.

Review 4K Movie

The first part of Wrong Turn was widely released on the big screen, while the second part was released directly to video. Given this circumstance, the sequel was supposed to be a weak imitation of the original, made only because of the commercial success of the first part. But, to my pleasant surprise, Wrong Turn 2: Dead End turned out to be made at almost the same level, albeit in a slightly different style.
The first Wrong Turn opened with a classic slasher “introductory” murder scene, which clearly defined the genre of the film for the viewer. At the same time, it served an additional function—it demonstrated the degree of “bloodiness” of the film. In other words, “here's violence within certain limits, spectacular, but without excessive naturalism and relish!”

The second Wrong Turn 2: Dead End begins with a similar episode, and we are shown the LEVEL OF VIOLENCE here! Believe me, it's like night and day!

But even in a genre as lowbrow as horror, “gore” has never been the main attraction. Therefore, the “bloody prelude” did not guarantee the quality of the film.

And then the story began, which at first evoked skeptical thoughts. The idea of creating a slasher film within the framework of a “reality show” played out by the film's characters immediately brought to mind the eighth installment of Halloween, where television crews filmed the adventures of teenagers in the house of the terrifying maniac Michael Myers and broadcast the recording on the Internet (Incidentally, that part of Halloween was “filmed” in places with an amateur camera — hello, Reportage, Monstro, and The Dead Diaries). And the eighth chapter of the famous horror series turned out to be relatively weak. So, there weren't any particular hopes for the second Wrong Turn 2: Dead End in this regard.
And at first, it really seems that the plot is quite “slack.” The characters wander around the forest, talk about all sorts of nonsense that has nothing to do with the plot, and start to get a little annoying. You don't even want to bother with the rules of the “survival game,” which also take up a lot of screen time. We know that this isn't some kind of “Last Hero,” it's a slasher! But those horror fans who bravely endure the tedious part of the film will be rewarded for their patience! Because when the horror finally begins, it will be something else! The tension and dynamics of the first Wrong Turn will return, and the violence will be over the top, flooding the screen with blood!

And if the first Wrong Turn looks like the brother of The Hills Have Eyes, the creators of the second part couldn't deny themselves the pleasure of liberally quoting Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. And if we compare Wrong Turn 2: Dead End in terms of brutality with something new, the recent French film The Edge comes to mind.

In short, if you like slashers, go see it! It's a well-made, purely entertaining “meat grinder.”
