Story Movie

The four survivors of the Woodsboro massacre - the Carpenter sisters and twins Chad and Mindy - have moved to New York City, where they are trying to start their lives over. Sam sees a therapist and, to Tara's displeasure, chafes at her every move, but as it soon becomes clear, for good reason. The masked maniac Ghostface starts killing again, and as Mindy suggests, neither new acquaintances nor old friends should be ruled out as suspects.

What I love about the Scream franchise is that it has always mocked the genre clichés of horror movies. The authors have talked a lot about franchise templates, horror movie rules, and post-horror movies, but have failed to come up with anything original. The legacy of the franchise and the desire to make a proper sequel held them back.

The trailers showed us an increase in stakes, a more brutal and aggressive maniac not afraid to go into a store and have fun, but in the end we got what we got.

In places, the deception of expectations in the movie was present, but these were short-term moments. Otherwise, however, following the rails of the first movie remained unchanged. If the first movie is a mockery of old horror films, then with the second, in addition to this added mock sequels, threequels, then reboots and franchises, as well as on the horrors of the new wave, with sharp social themes.

In general, the creators of the franchise did it all to the hilt.

And actually made a movie in the spirit of the time, so the very idea of the franchise they continued to develop further. And this is the most important thing.

Another thing is that the movie itself turned out to be...I'll be honest, the third act of the first Scream was a head above the movie.

The standard geek talk, about the laws of horror, faded characters, unreasonable survivability, and a bunch of scripted absurd moments that cannot be justified by irony or ridicule, which these moments are not, put the movie for me almost on a level with the worst part (the third). The movie had some good moments that should have been developed, but the softness of the filmmakers towards the characters killed the movie.
