Zombies have overrun the world, and the last people are trying to escape, being hostages of the situation in the city surrounded by an impregnable wall. However, soon they too will be threatened by even more dangerous creatures.

As a whole and in every single episode 'Land of the Dead' is nothing but a low-brow horror movie, balancing on the edge of thrash. Perhaps, George Romero achieved just such an effect, because the tape itself - it is a continuous meat grinder, with a constant emphasis of director's attention on the scenes of the living dead eating various parts of human bodies, tearing off heads, fountains of blood. Everything is presented to the viewer in close-up. without any cuts, the director abstracts himself from any artistic meaning or morality, as if telling us: 'You wanted meat? Get it! That's what I intended to create for you, and all morality was and is exhausted in 'Night of the Living Dead'.

I was not inspired by this kind of presentation of the material and did not make a special impression, did not hit the plot, which lacks originality and any hint of surprise turn of events. Everything goes the same way, zombies eat people, people kill the living dead with firearms and light artillery. At the end of the whole “mochilov” I saw an incredibly pathos finale with the same pathos speeches of the heroes. The trick with glimmers of reason, which began to appear in zombies, seemed unnecessary and thematically completely inconsistent with the mood of such movies.

Grimm and special effects, of course, at the level, not bad casting - Baker and Leguizamo play very brightly, adding extra dynamics to the story. Almost not annoying in his clichéd role as an operatic villain Dennis Hopper, firmly established in recent times in pictures of the lowest categories.

At the same time, a decent acting game for a movie, which in its meaning can attract only interesting and original script, was not enough to distinguish 'Land of the Dead' from the multitude of its kind.
