The Taking of Pelham One Two Three 4K 1974 Ultra HD 2160p
Four armed men seize a New York subway car and take 18 passengers hostage. They demand a million dollars for one hour or they threaten to kill one hostage for every minute they are late. Authorities decide to meet the terrorists' demand, as they believe that the perpetrators have no chance of escaping from the subway without being caught.

Review 4K Movie

As always, everything in our lives happens at the wrong time. A chilly winter day in New York City did not seem to portend anything extraordinary. Everything went on as usual: people were rushing to work, public transport worked as usual. But four elegantly dressed men decided to diversify this routine. They carried out a well-conceived plan to hijack a subway train in order to get a million dollars (for each of them was not the happiest period in his life), and thus to kick the authorities. Lt. Garber (brilliantly played by "Grumpy Old Man" Walter Matthau) negotiates with the terrorists to avoid unnecessary casualties among the hostages.

You know, once, all the famous actress Jodie Foster said that the time of almost all the best movies were in the 70's. And it's hard to disagree with her, because it was in that era that "Star Wars", "Jaws", "Mean Streets", "Taxi Driver", the first two parts of "The Godfathers" and other, no less significant for the world cinema pictures were released on the big screens.

For thrillers, the seventies were also a fertile period-just think of Sam Pekinp's Straw Dogs. Created in the era of clever and imaginative thrillers, "Capturing the Pelham Train 1-2-3" is an example of the category of thriller films, which nowadays they have forgotten how to make. It has nothing to do with the technicalities. There are absolutely other things that play a decisive role here. First of all, it is a well constructed storyline. The picture rapidly gains momentum and keeps you in suspense until the very end.

Secondly, it is a very realistic movie. Yes, yes, you heard right. You believe this movie from the first frame to the last. No pretentiousness or superheroics - everything is very clear and to the point. The characters are all too vivid: be it the smart-headed transit cop, the ever-disgruntled career manager who couldn't give a damn about the passengers, or the mayor of New York who has the flu and doesn't want to deal with some outlandish problem, trying to pin it on his aide. It is also noteworthy that one of the members of the criminal quartet is also suffering from a cold, which has fallen on his exuberant head at the wrong time. Have you seen something like this in other movies? Personally, I haven't.

Thirdly, we should not leave aside the skillfully plotted dialogues, which you relish with great pleasure. Most of them are peppered with excellent humor. In just the first half hour of this film can be snapped up for quotations.

"The Seizure of the Pelham 1-2-3 Train" is a diamond, sadly lost in a pile of glass. And if you happen to have an opportunity to watch this wonderfully witty thriller in every way, don't pass it up in any way. By the way, the idea with the so-called "colored" nicknames in "Mad Dogs" was borrowed by maestro Tarantino from Joseph Sargent's film.
