Story Movie

Arthur Bishop is the Mechanic, a highly professional, impeccable killer who always works by the rules - clean and without trace. Such work requires complete composure and impartiality, and in his work he has no equal. Bishop has always worked alone, but he had to become a mentor to the young and desperate Steve. The methodical professional and the impulsive student now pair up to eliminate problems, but sooner or later they will meet in mortal combat.

Review 4K Movie

The remake of a rather old movie of the same name - Simon West's 'The Mechanic' with Jason Statham - is a very impressive, memorable for many successful moments, an action movie with a light touch of thriller, with good intrigue, successful plot moves and a variety of not boring action.

Only two things interfere with all its charms: shoddy camerawork, which makes beautiful plot ideas not spectacularly presented action, and shaking yes flickering at the most inopportune moments for such shooting, and absolutely ridiculous dialogues, after which it would be preferable to look at completely silent characters. And if with the first point on the face of an obvious mistake in the choice of the operator, then with the second sincere bewilderment - to write in the script so much great action and plot moves, but so weakly prescribe the speech of the characters - it's really strange. And it seems that a good action movie does not need multi-layered phrases, swirling speech turns and marvelous color in the lexicon, but to give primitive scraps of phrases, on the basis of which to build in the end supposedly the relationship of the characters - does not cause respect.

Otherwise, the rest of the movie is in good order. Brutal-looking Jason Statham once again plays his adrenaline type, not changing and retaining all his steadfastness, charisma and color of the image, plays here a 'mechanic' - a hired killer, eliminating unwanted people for money. His hero - a true professional of his work. And, having taken custody of the son of one of his own good friends (whom he himself had killed), he undertakes to train him, making him a kind of receiver, and then begins a series of training and operations, cool, dashing and adventurous. In addition, the video sequence is accompanied by very nice guitar melodies, on which almost the whole soundtrack is built, quite original and cool these string parts are combined with what is happening on the screen.

From the original of the seventies in the remake remained only the most basic details of the plot, plus a few well-placed ommages, complementing the general details of these films. The stuffing has been changed almost beyond recognition, removing all the glitz and glamor and emphasizing the action, drive and brutality of the characters. To maintain closeness with the original movie it was quite possible to invite Mickey Rourke to the lead role, who now looks just a copy of Bronson of those times, and to choose someone of Ben Barnes' type for the role of the young assistant, but with this arrangement it would be necessary to keep many elements, reshooting the plot to copy. Here the story is modernized, transferred to the present day and modern criminal and social structures, the framework of the movie is melted under the sheer dynamics of action and modern genre demands, well, and the action movie itself has become tougher, bloodier and in all the charms of the R rating.

Thus difficult to combine with the original images casting remake 'Mechanic' does not make a bad impression, and all the changes are perceived quite even successful finds of the plot and development of the story shown. As a thriller - the movie is intriguing and repeatedly keeps you in suspense, and as an action movie - it is tightly woven, action-packed and just plain cool! It is really exciting, really entertaining and enjoyable to watch, although the visuals are not as expressive as they could be, and the characters' speech is almost perplexing, except for the only appropriate voice-over recitation of the main character at the beginning of the movie, explaining what is going on and who Statham's character is.

The original was slow, and the first 15 minutes of the movie without a single word demonstrated the operation of surveillance, placement of explosives, and liquidation of the next ordered. The remake with its prologue does almost the same thing, silently spends 10-15 minutes on a demonstration operation of elimination, but at the same time in a much more dynamically mounted action, successfully thought out to the details of the operation in the opening scene of the prologue. When the opening credits roll it feels like we have just watched a terrific short film that requires nothing more than what we have seen, but the movie itself eventually turns into its extended and repeated version, supplemented and improved. And that is why the aftertaste is extremely pleasant.

By the variety of memorable scenes the movie stubbornly remains in the memory as pleasant memories, in addition to the prologue can not fail to note the stunning descent from the skyscraper, an impressive meat scene with the sink, the episode with the arms dealer, and much more. 'The Mechanic' can be watched and re-watched, and even if it doesn't get much fame and cult status, it has a very good chance to become a long-running franchise or at least get a sequel. It's not a masterpiece, it's just a very good and exciting action movie, which has revealed its potential quite well.
