Story Movie

"Blackhat" (2015) is a gripping thriller about cybercrime and world security. Director Michael Mann presents the story of Hack Chen, a brilliant hacker who finds himself at the center of international cyberterrorism.

The movie begins with a cyberattack on nuclear reactors in China and the United States. When authorities discover that the attacks were carried out using a powerful virus, they turn to Chen (Chris Hemsworth), an ex-convict with unrivaled skills in the world of computer forensics.

Chen agrees to help, and together with American and Chinese agents, they begin the hunt for the mysterious hacker. The chase leads them through various countries and the shadowy corners of the internet, where a high-stakes cyber war is brewing.

Under the tense cyberspace cover, the movie also explores the characters' motivations, creating an in-depth portrait of those behind the keys. "Blackhat" offers viewers not only a gripping technological thriller, but also a reflection on the power and vulnerability of the modern world in the digital age.

Review 4K Movie

Blackhat is the first high-profile failure of the year, undeserved but logical. The advertising campaign promised a dashing thriller, but this is a much more subtle movie.

Chris Nolan and Nicholas Refn copy entire movies from director Michael Mann. He basically does exactly the same thing, but with his own work. After Blackhat, it's already definitely clear that he almost always made the same movie. Everything good and bad about it, he's already had it before.

As in 'Complicity', Mann takes on the task of directing a disgusting script and works a miracle. The direction doesn't just pull the movie through, it takes it to a whole other level. 'Accomplice' was supposed to be an idiotic thriller, but thanks to hyper-realistic digital photography and unusual intonation, it became a nightmare brought to the screen.

In 'Cyber', the script only acts as an excuse for the movie. Behind the topical theme of cyber-terrorism there is a banal thriller with catching up with the 'evil evil villain' with the dumbest motivation. No originality, no truth. It wouldn't be worth watching at all if it weren't for the production itself.

Digital photography does not imitate film photography, which may not be a pleasant experience even for a viewer who doesn't understand the difference. Faded color scheme, shaky camera, night shooting under natural city lighting, abundance of super close-ups - if all this scares you off, it's better not to even watch the trailer.

But for me, as someone who is crazy about the visual style of 'Accessory,' 'Johnny D' and even 'Miami Vice' - 'Cyber' is incredibly satisfying. It's like it was filmed for me in general. The boat in the night from 'Miami Vice', the pointless subway ride from 'Accessory', the color scheme from 'Ali', the pointless but beautiful flights over night cities, the short but brutal shootouts.

It makes you want to call Blackchat a video art. Atmospheric visuals are added by an objectively beautiful soundtrack by Atticus Ross. But the main find of Mann is not in the excellent combination of music and video, but in the choice of the main character.

Chris Hemsworth, the same Thor from 'The Avengers'. A two-meter tall jock with an impenetrable face. But his laconic, if I may say so, acting, so corresponds to the brevity of the movie itself and Mann's directing style, that you can't help but start to perceive him as the director's alter ego. The dummy from the comic book movies turns out to be a silent handsome man, as if he escaped from another cinematic era. By golly, in the 70's he would have played roles much more interesting than the current ones.

And with such a laconic hero and impeccable style, a silly thriller turns into something else. As in the same 'Miami Vice' Mann fooled everyone. Under the crooked mask of a thriller, he made a love story. It's simple but sad. Not much to say, like the main characters. Contact has been made.
