Story Movie

Samir Barda is released from prison after serving time for drug trafficking. Samir is determined to quit crime and start his life with a clean slate. But former gang buddies do not leave the guy alone, trying to drag him back by force. One day they attack Samir, deciding to teach him a lesson, but during the fight the guy accidentally kills one of the attackers. Realizing that now in France he has no future, Samir escapes to Thailand, where he later found a family and began to live a peaceful life. But five years later, his criminal past catches up with him here too.

To be honest, I was not going to watch the new work of the director of the nightmarish “Hitman”, although the video was not bad. But my friends' reviews, saying that there are flaws, but the fights are very cool, made me change my mind. After all, there were Xavier Jeans and, according to reviews, not bad and bloody “Border”, and on “Lupin” and especially “Gangs of London” man also worked, and in the U.S. as a rule, all “non-Americans” all sorts of nonsense shoot under the oppression of producers.

And he didn't regret it at all. Yes, the beginning is dragged out, and all the tasty stuff starts at about 40-50 minutes, though any bash action movie traditionally does it already at about 20 minutes. But unlike the last John Woo, here is a cool color corridors (green corridors, neon color of nightclub, views of Thailand) and juicy colors, cool camerawork, and as for action - heaven and earth.

Nassim Lies, an MMA fighter and French junior kickboxing champion, is in the main role here. And the guy demonstrates all his fighting skills in all their glory. Fights here are brutal, fast-paced, tough and Indonesian bloody. At times it feels as if you are watching Timo Tjajanto's movie “The Night is Coming for Us”.

There are not so many battle scenes, but each battle segment is memorable: the first battle reconnaissance in the mansion, small skirmishes in the club, at home and on the pier (here the Thai combat veteran Witkhaya Pansringarm comes into action), and, of course, the final battle in the corridor and the roof-raising scene in the elevator, which takes your breath away.

In general, it turned out to be a normal typical bashka plot clone of “Hostage” with a good budget, cool action (it's a pity not so much) and a tightened introduction. Fans of the genre can watch it - the fights are definitely worth it.
