His name is Sid 6.7. He is made of two hundred selected scum, scoundrels and psychopaths, endowed with the intelligence and cunning of the most famous serial killers in the history of mankind.
Sid 6.7 was specially designed as the perfect embodiment of evil and cruelty for a special computer program to help police officers catch criminals. But what happened was irreparable.
Sid managed to escape from cybernetic space into the real world. The perfect criminal was on the loose and eager to teach people a terrible lesson...
The only person who stood in the way of the computer sadist was a police officer named Parker Barnis. But Officer Barnis has always had to deal with flesh and blood bandits. Can he take on the invulnerable Sid 6.7?

Once upon a time there was a programmer, and he had...no, not three sons, but two wonderful creations, in which he put all his soul, all his dreams, desires and passions. The first creation was the wonderful, sexy, stunning, smart and beautiful Sheila. The second was the wonderful, sexy, stunning, smart and handsome Sid 6.7. Everything was perfect in these creations, except for one small detail - Sid 6.7 was created in the image of two hundred of the most despicable criminals: murderers, rapists, maniacs, rippers - it was their personalities that were taken to form his one. Can you imagine what a mess and chaos was in the poor man's head, it's no longer a split personality, but ... even the word can not pick up, and each personality pulls the blanket on himself, each screaming that it is her affairs and desires are now the main and priority. It is not surprising that the handsome Sid turned out, to put it mildly, the guy is not too balanced and malleable, but should we blame him? After all, as they said in the wonderful movie “A Visit to the Minotaur”: “It's not the Minotaur's fault that he was born a monster, he just wants to eat!”
And what happened to our “daddy”-programmer, why, from what he once at leisure came a terrific idea to create such creatures? No, well, with Sheila everything is clear, but Sid? And it turns out that the box simply opened, it turned out that the police department needed a virtual simulator, yes, yes, that's all so simple, simulator - to train personnel in various extreme situations. Well, in such situations you need a villain to fight with. Here he is - Sid 6.7.
However, the villain from so many brains and not always idiotic in his electronic head, begins to suddenly get smarter and evolve - what a surprise! It becomes a surprise not only for the management of the company, which actually proposed this project for the police, but also for the “daddy” programmer himself. After all, Sid, as the most powerful program, began to go wherever he wanted in virtuality and even create it for himself, and soon said a contemptuous “FI” and the “daddy” himself. On the one hand, “daddy” felt proud of such an intelligent child and even admiration, but on the other hand, he felt fear and hatred towards him. Especially after such insulting speeches and also because the first creation began to cheat on “daddy” with the second - what ingratitude! And then the management also yelled at the programmer after Sid was extremely disrespectful to one of the police officers testing the system. So it's all one thing.
So “dad” would sit and be sad, if his faithful assistant hadn't come to him with a new amazing idea - he found a way to drag a virtual organism into the real world, but the assistant's thoughts were about Sheila, and he provided everything. She would be practically invulnerable, and if any damage was done to her it would be worth using the glass and regeneration would happen immediately - a perfect organism! However, “daddy” completely in upset feelings, like all underestimated geniuses, rightly hardened on everyone and decided to spend in our world ... Sid. So that all these soups would jump in reality and take the hardship.
And there was a miraculous birth of a stunning, perfect, sexy, charming handsome and funny man, with the habits of a child and the habits of the last psychopath - Sid 6.7. This is where things really begin to happen in full compliance with the proverb “don't wake up while it's quiet!”.
However, the law enforcement agencies have a cunning plan, I don't know, maybe all the police professionals urgently took the bulletin, but as usual - there is only one who can cope with this crazy maniac, and, of course, he sits in prison. Only there the police keeps its best staff, as they say “far away you put - closer you take”. This is a former policeman Parker Barnes (Denzel Washington), convicted of an accidental crime during the capture of a terrorist who killed his family and maimed Barnes himself. And naturally now part of Sid's personality - what a coincidence. And then...watch this.
Despite such a tragic plot, it is impossible to watch this film without laughter and humor, and the main reason for all this is the incredible, sparkling performance of Russell Crowe. He easily outplayed Denzel Washington, which, however, is not the fault of the latter, just the role of Sid is more advantageous, in it you could steamy, not held back by any conventions and frameworks. When you have a character with many faces - you can play anyone. Russell managed to combine the role of a psychopath, with a cheerful, newborn, interested in everything new child.
A special word should be said for Sid's image creation, as this is a cybernetic organism - he should be perfect in everything. Everything is perfect in him - starting from his body (the view from the back is something) and finishing with his hairstyle and costume. About costumes it is necessary to tell separately. Sid is a man from virtuality, and, therefore, likes everything to be bright and beautiful, so he chooses costumes of parrot colors - bright green and purple. Which, however, damn well go Russell, yes, yes it is Russell - good bastard, damn it! Everything in his image is great - it turned out a kind of dandy from the 50s of the twentieth century, and the music to his appearances, picked up the appropriate. And his phrase “I am beautiful!” worthy to take a place in the best examples of phrases said by maniacs in the movie! And all the atrocities he commits with such delight and mental uplift, like a creator creating a canvas.
This is such a contradictory and charming maniac Crowe managed to create. And, despite the presence in the movie of a fine actor Washington and the tragic story of his character, the whole movie is dragged by the sparkling Russell. That speaks of his immense comedic talent, not once manifested in the productions at his place in Australia, and in general, despite his severe in many roles, he is a man laughing “and on the affection wind up” (c). Thank God that this his talent no-no, yes, and use in a movie, and he himself is trying even in the most tragic of his character to insert a spark and mischief.
In short, “Virtuosity” is a wonderful movie of the mid-90s, for fans of computer stories, when the world is not yet overwhelmed by the “Matrix”. And if there is a desire to enjoy the magnificent comic play of Crowe welcome to the screens. Happy watching!
