8 years ago, schoolteacher Samantha Kane suffered total memory loss. She lives a happy family life with her 8-year-old daughter and has no idea about her bloody past, because once this beautiful woman was an agent Charlie Beltimore, fulfilling secret orders of the CIA. Shocked by the unexpected return of some of the skills and psychological training of a professional hitman, Samantha tries to make sense of her past. Detective Mitch Hennessey, who began by investigating the life of a simple teacher, finds himself drawn along with Samantha into a secret CIA operation.

A schoolteacher who lost her memory lived a quiet family life for 8 years. After being in a car accident, her memory partially starts to come back to her, and with it the skills of a professional killer, because before she was none other than Charlie Baltimore - a spy who worked for the Government and performed top-secret missions.

After so much time, the movie still looks in one breath. The main character Charlie can be a worthy competitor to Rambo, “Die Hard” and, already modern, Jason Bourne. Wielding a knife like a master-class chef and all kinds of weapons like a born fighter, she in a flash destroys all enemies who stand in her way and gets out of any difficult situations, even when the rescue, at first glance, is simply impossible. One of the main pluses of the picture was the moment of “transition” from a schoolteacher to a professional spy-killer, shown in several scenes.

Geena Davis perfectly copes with her role. It is a huge credit to the director that he took her for the main role - she looks great as a helpless housewife and as a professional in her work. Samuel L. Jackson made her a perfect match, helping the protagonist in all her affairs and “letting go” at the same time excellent jokes (in my opinion - this is one of his best roles). Such an excellent duo I have not seen in any other action movie. A good script (in the nineties in films of this genre scripts were always great), of course, also serves as a big plus to the movie.

One of the main differences from other movies of this genre is that the main character is a woman. Renny Harlin showed that even a woman can be a “lethal weapon” and a “tough nut”. It is a pity that no one continued this theme further, so “The Long Kiss Goodnight” is the only outstanding movie of its kind.
