Review 4K Movie
Back in the nineties, when yours truly was young and stupid, I used to turn on the TV at eight o'clock in the evening to watch with interest the adventures of two desperate guys who helped good people and beat up bad people. At the same time it was arranged so easily and casually that it was impossible to take your eyes off what was going on. But years have passed and the TV people and the mass audience have forgotten about such talented actors as Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, but I haven't forgotten and the proof is our guest today. So this is Odds and Evens.
The plot is quite curious for this kind of movie. Lieutenant Johnny Firpo gets the task to get into the confidence of the head of the sports mafia, in order to bring the latter out into the open. But how to do it, if the criminal meets only with inveterate gamblers? Of course, to become one! And in this John will be helped by his older brother Charlie, an old gambler and trucker. But there is one small problem - Charlie Firpo's character is not a gift.
I've always been attracted to gambling movies. Maybe because I am a gambler myself, and maybe because the plot of such movies is usually twisted and interesting. And this movie falls under the definition of interesting due to the fact that despite the overall storyline, the events in the movie happen simply because they happen. Not because it is a cunning plan, someone from the heroes and villains, but simply because his majesty random decided to please the heroes and the viewer with another event. And this gives the movie realism. After all, in life, events also tend to just happen, without any prelude. So what if most of the events are reduced to the fact that the heroes beat someone up? Well, the Firpo brothers are used to solving their problems that way and no other way. Besides, it's one of the most effective ways to solve problems. Someone's trying to steal your truck? Kill the kidnappers! A defenseless person is attacked by criminals? Stand up for the unfortunate and clearly explain that it is not good to offend the weak. Cake spoiled? Kill the bullies! Are you being insulted? Don't stoop to their level, just punch them! It's beautiful.
And a couple words about the characters in the movie. So, Charlie Firpo, played by Bud Spencer, resembles a bear in his character. He is calm, reasonable and prefers to weigh the pros and cons before making any decision. But if someone manages to anger Charlie, then the next couple of weeks this unfortunate will spend in the hospital. Johnny, played by Terence Hill, is the direct opposite of his brother. He is hyperactive, sharp-tongued and loves risky ventures. As a rule, it all ends with the fact that you have to grab your legs in your hands and run away, but Charlie is just from that category of people who do not learn from their own or others' mistakes and prefer to step on the same rake over and over again in the calculation of “what if it goes away”? In general, the “brothers” complement each other favorably, and watching their misadventures is moderately interesting and moderately amusing. As for the rest of the actors, in general, they coped well with their roles, but no one is particularly memorable.
Summarizing, I would like to say that before the viewer is a bright representative of action movies of the seventies of the last century. The action movie, where violence was not brought out in the absolute, and looked fascinating and funny. The action movie, in which the protagonists were disposable to themselves as excellent acting, and that they protected the weak and defenseless even to their own detriment. Action movie, in which every five minutes something was happening, and the viewer just would not have time to get bored. A movie that had great tunes and excellent camerawork. So if you are looking for such an action movie, then pay your attention to the movie “Odds and Evens”, you will not regret it.
