Story Movie

This time James Bond is assigned to investigate the theft of a huge shipment of South African diamonds. While unraveling this complicated case, Bond finds himself on the trail of his nemesis Blofeld.

Review 4K Movie

James Bond is a gentleman. The first commandment of a true British gentleman is to please women (it must be said that the other nine commandments are absolutely identical), but Mr. 007 knows a little more than the average man from Foggy Albion; he understands perfectly well that in addition to love and affection, beautiful enchantresses need a friend who will wipe away their tears and mend their broken hearts once again. This comrade is genderless and cold, and his name sounds luxurious — give her a companion in the form of a diamond, and she will leave her lover's place to you. And what is a country if not the most capricious of lovers, forcing you at the wave of her manicured finger (Bond's beloved woman has the Union Jack neatly painted on her nails) to rush headlong to the other end of the world for the proverbial diamonds (she is also a member of the weaker sex, after all).

Africa is freaking out, M is worried, Bond barely manages to save his jacket from dirt of a certain color, and immediately sets off to resolve the first two problems, the root of which lies in the friendly English-speaking United States. The diamonds have been stolen — women are in danger! The villain, guilty of potential female hysteria, has been unfriendly to 007 since the previous installments, mainly due to the stubborn SPECTRE-ness of his attacks on world peace. The theft of precious stones has turned into a threat to detonate all nuclear reserves on Earth — a surprise? Hardly; with Bond's characteristic flair for turning trifles into matters of global importance, the story rushes between explosions and chamber fights, chases through nighttime Las Vegas and helicopter sieges, filling the scriptural confusion of names, faces, and limbs with smoke and broken glass. MI6's best agent is no stranger to untangling knots like this; his technique is elegant in its simplicity—cut through and don't worry about being neat.

Diamonds are all he needs; narcissists are like women in their pursuit of self-admiration, and are precious stones any different from mirrors? Stylish attire, velvety voice, ironic squint—Connery knows he is irresistible and tries with all his might to make everyone who relaxed at the sight of the name of a completely non-Bond-like Australian opposite the title with the name of Agent 007 dream about him in a kilt. The old broom sweeps as before with redoubled zeal, leaving behind diamond dust, which it would be sacrilegious to consider a sign of age, noticeably distinguishing the British Scotsman from his “You Only Live Twice” counterpart. He fights more fiercely, drives more aggressively, and seduces women with particular laziness, looking contentedly at a 120-carat diamond. Bond also needs a friend who will understand, forgive, and not spend his martini with vodka on himself. Handsome men should not know that they are handsome — by doing so, they endanger the world the moment they notice the disappointing glint of a soulless mineral. All that remains is to give the gift to his beloved and put on an indifferent, pretentious air, as if to say, “I didn't really want it that much.” After all, no one will forbid you to lie to yourself and call it “the truth.”
