After the demise of technological civilization, magic and monsters returned to the world. There is little magic and action. And even the action is very similar to the Resident Evil franchise. The magic is tertiary, inserted into the plot to differentiate the films. The same can be said for the western motifs. It's a bit of a stretch. Although the difference is in the letters of the main character's name, the similar sound seems to hint at something...

The graphics are good. This is something that is largely lacking in adaptations of graphic novels, particularly Electric State. In Lost Lands, there is a lot of this, and it is done very well. These are large-scale scenes of a post-apocalyptic world with a focus on the center of the picture. Such huge shots. Well, it's better to see for yourself.

In contrast to the large-scale shots of graphic and compositional content, there are also many close-ups of the actors. In my opinion, there are too many. This is to the detriment of the medium shot, the action shot.

There is a huge drop in momentum in the first 25 minutes of the film, when we are introduced to the lore of the film's world. These scenes are filled with large-scale pathos, as if a series based on Dune or a similar work with many fans is being filmed. But since there is no such basis, instead of moving the plot forward, these scenes, which cinematographically explain the simple plot in a complicated way, discourage the viewer from the very beginning. Moreover, the authors did not show anything new. We have seen this many times before. The members of the Order are outwardly designed as a compilation of The Shepherd and Mad Max.

Along with the sluggish, large-scale scenes, there are scenes with ultra-simple and abrupt combat, which also creates a certain dissonance in the narrative.

The film owes a debt to the logic of life. Example: What do horses eat in a post-apocalyptic world if there is no flora?

As usual, Andersen's musical score in the film is remarkable. It's a pity that it is not as prominent and charismatic on screen as it was in Resident Evil. 4.

Simple but pretentious lore. Beautifully composed scenes with precise graphics. The ageless Jovovich. Not enough action, and it is secondary to other films. Very little that could elevate the film above other MAGIC dystopias.
