It looks like Lincoln International Airport manager Mel Bakersfeld and his team are having a tough day - they need to keep the airport running at all costs in the relentless snow. But how can they do that when a broken airplane has blocked one of the runways and one of the passengers is hiding a bomb in his suitcase?

As soon as you read the middle of Arthur Hailey's book, you realize that the film based on it is bound to be a success. I can imagine how cool and realistic the special effects in this film looked forty years ago. This film marked the beginning of many cult disaster films featuring airplanes. It remains a masterpiece to this day. It's hard to imagine anyone else who could have played in this film. Classic Hollywood heartthrobs and girls with very cool hairstyles act as if they are really experiencing a plane crash and, along with it, the collapse of their hopes, plans, and relationships.

But despite the excellent script, the acting, and the realistic special effects, the film cannot convey the atmosphere that Arthur Hailey created in his novel. There are no positive or negative characters in the book. Each has their own path, their own experiences, and we empathize with each of them, even the “saboteur.” So I think that if you read the book before watching the film, your impression will be greatly enhanced.
