Story Movie

Greenland 4K 2020 Ultra HD 2160p
All the media are talking about a comet approaching Earth, and civil engineer John Garrity is more concerned with how to save a crumbling marriage. Today they are having a party with the neighbors, and after going to the supermarket for groceries, John suddenly receives a presidential message that he and his family have been selected for rescue in a secret bunker. At first, he does not attach any importance to this, but soon the shock wave from the collision of the first parts of the comet with the Earth rolls to their quiet suburbs, and terrifying footage of destruction begins to broadcast on all channels. Sitting with his wife and son in the car under the bewildered gaze of neighbors, John hurries to the airport, where they board the cargo planes who received messages.

Review 4K Movie

It must be admitted that disaster films have always been very rare. Especially when it comes to large-budget and studio films, and not films intended immediately for video viewing. The genre has become even rarer now. When the main focus of cinematography is on superhero films, various comic book adaptations, as well as remakes and sequels of various films and franchises. In this connection, it was worth "looming on the border" for this film directed by Rick Roman Waugh, I immediately started watching it.

The plot of this tape develops around the civil engineer John Garrity, who is trying with all his might to save the falling apart marriage and does not even think about the comet approaching the Earth. Suddenly John receives a government message that he and his family have been selected for rescue in a secret bunker. Soon, in different parts of the planet, the debris of the planet begins to fall and destroy the lives of hundreds and thousands of people. John and his wife hurry to the airport, but the evacuation is not going according to plan, they are separated and are trying with all their might to find each other and escape.

The script for this tape is not even bad at all. At first glance, the film leans against the many clichés and cliches of the genre. However, at the same time, he plays them very well on the screen and tries to present the viewer as freshly as possible (as much as possible). Including all this leapfrog with the division of the main characters, who are looking for each other for almost the entire film. Willingly using it as a tool not only for revealing the characters of the main characters, but also as a catalyst for a kind of "restart" of marriage and the feelings of the main characters. Moreover, the script captivates by the fact that the authors of this tape, in my opinion, drew on the screen the most realistic scenario of events. Starting with the method of choosing the chosen ones to move to the bunker and ending with the true essence of people, manifested in such extreme events and their actions. Seemingly good or bad. The only disappointment was the finale with a frankly superfluous final couple of minutes, which ruined the open finale with a powerful drama and the author's message about how important it is to share every minute of your time with the closest and dearest people.

The director of this tape, Rick Roman Waugh, made a very good film. Even at the beginning of his career, the director willingly demonstrated his signature style "not like everyone else", which he adhered to in all his films and regardless of the genre. This film was no exception. As a disaster film, the film does not show many spectacular scenes on the screen and he staged them in a very "ordinary" way. Unlike most representatives of the genre, who revel in this very sight and twist the degree of destruction in action scenes to the maximum. Thus, Rick Roman Waugh made the maximum bet on the drama in the context of one family, and not humanity and attempts to save it. He failed to keep the same pace of the narrative and in places the film sags. But in general, he willingly pleases with a deeper direction and the absence of pretentious scenes than in most films of the genre.

Gerard Butler did not play badly. In some century, Butler moved away from his usual role and showed his dramatic qualities, which he had not demonstrated for a long time. Much stronger impression was made by Morena Baccarin, who showed a really strong, natural and sincere game. As if she did not play at all and is the same as her heroine in real life. The rest of the actors, alas, do not remember me. Including Scott Glenn.
