A pair of Hong Kong cops, Ricky and Maskles (meaning `muscles'), find themselves in Tokyo in search of a fugitive criminal. Here a major setback awaits the buddies - Ricky is kidnapped by Japanese gangsters. But Masklesa to help from Hong Kong hastens reinforcements in the face of... small-time crooks, who manage to get into the most horrible and funny trouble. However, among them there is a professional - a beautiful policewoman Miss Wu, whose fight with a Japanese woman became a textbook for the martial arts genre.

Review 4K Movie

The film My Lucky Stars can be added to the list of Jackie Chan's classic works without any false modesty. And this is despite the fact that a good two-thirds of this comedy action film takes place without a single hint of his direct presence on screen. The film is quite well known, as it was popular with viewers back in Soviet times and was widely distributed on pirated videotapes. Nowadays, interest in such films has declined significantly, which is obviously dictated by the times and other demands on action films of this kind.

I'll start with the fact that Sammo Hung himself directed My Lucky Stars, which subsequently resulted in him playing the central and leading role in the film. First and foremost, he demonstrated his talent as a fighter and martial arts master. And since Sammo is a very serious person, his comic image did not turn out as vivid as one would have liked. Jackie appeared only as a fighter, mainly because he participated in the film as a guest star.

Since the film is traditionally a combination of comedy and action with the use of Eastern martial arts, I cannot help but say a few words about these two main components of the film.

From a comedic point of view, the “stars” turned out to be even funnier than the previously released and successful “Snack Bar on Wheels,” “Big Fight,” and “Young Master.” The jokes were very funny, interesting, and original. The humor does not become tiresome and is a strong argument confirming that
this film is by no means a mediocre work.

As for the action part of the film, Jackie was generally unable to show us anything outstanding (although a few episodes did add some worthy embellishment to the film), but, more importantly, he did not fall below his usual standard. I should note that there weren't that many fights, and most of them took place in the last twenty minutes of the film.

My Lucky Stars is undoubtedly an extraordinary work worthy of respect, a classic that we have slowly begun to forget.
