In search of a better life and penniless, Charlie arrives in Hong Kong. He gives his last cents to a poor merchant for a rose flower, which should bring him good luck. And the “lucky” case did not take long to come. The guy becomes an unwitting participant in a shootout between two criminal gangs and takes out from under fire one of the bosses. Dying, the head of the triad appoints Charlie as his heir.

Miracles: The Canton Godfather is a remake of the 1961 American film A Fistful of Miracles. The film was shot in the golden years for Jackie Chan 80's, but critics evaluated it coolly. Chan was eager to prove to Hong Kong that he could shoot not only action scenes, but also be a good director of the whole movie. The basis of the movie is a situation comedy. Fans of action scenes will only see three full fights. If you love Jackie Chan movies for his trademark action, you will have to be patient, but you will be rewarded with fights that are some of the best of Jackie Chan's career. Blink and You Miss It fights will be shown in a coffee shop, on the street and in a factory. Filming the movie was nine months and cost at that time a very large sum by the standards of Hong Kong, $ 8,500,000. Not without unforeseen difficulties, a natural disaster intervened in the production process. The typhoon destroyed much of the sets, and they had to be rebuilt.

The film won the HKFA (Hong Kong Film Awards, Hong Kong's equivalent of the Oscars) for Best Fight Scenes. Plus it was honored with three nominations: best actor (Jackie Chan), best art direction (Eddie Ma) and best editing (Peter Cheung).
