The story of the meteoric rise of Reinhard Heydrich, a statesman and politician of Nazi Germany, one of the initiators of the "final solution of the Jewish question", who was assassinated by Jan Kubiš and Josef Gabčík - Czechoslovak saboteurs, agents specially trained by the British.

This is the second film in which the authors tell us another version of the rebel army's assassination attempt on Reinhard Heydrich. But unlike the film ‘Anthropoid’, this one takes a broader view, including a brief account of the rapid rise of one of the leaders of Nazi Germany. Anthropoid focuses entirely on the rebels and their preparations for the assassination attempt, but here we see the backstory, Heinrich's personal life and family, his youth, and the reasons he joined Adolf Hitler's nationalist party.

Some critics condemn the film for its excessive conciseness, quickly moving from one event to another. But personally, I would not be very interested in spending two whole hours watching a man who was practically the main initiator of the “final solution to the Jewish question,” observing in detail the internal changes in one of the most cruel people on earth. In this case, director Cendric Jimenez, who gave us The French Connection, has presented a meaningful retelling, focusing only on the main aspects of the formation of a famous personality. The film is clearly divided into two halves: the first part tells the story of Heydrich, and the second tells the story of the saboteurs. As a result, the two parts of the film merge into one big story at the end, with all the ensuing consequences.
I would like to warn you right away that the film contains some rather brutal scenes of bloody torture, excessive violence, mass executions, and the great suffering of an entire people. Incidentally, the film shows not only the repression of Jews, Poles, and Czechoslovak citizens, but also devotes a separate narrative thread to the internal purges among the German population, revealing the true face of Nazi madness. Throughout the film, viewers will see difficult and very dramatic scenes that evoke genuine compassion and tears.

I will not claim that the film's script is bad or lacking in substance. Of course, it could have been done better, but the director still managed to captivate me as a viewer, to interest me and to evoke strong emotions while watching. Without taking my eyes off the screen, I watched the film to the end, understanding that such films are still necessary, especially for the young, misguided generation, which has recently been increasingly romanticizing the bloody period of World War II.
