In the eyes of his warlike father, the young predator Deck is a complete nobody and a disgrace to the clan. His father orders his eldest son to kill him, but he saves his brother at the cost of his own life and sends him to the planet Genn, inhabited by aggressive creatures. There, Dek meets Tia, a halved android girl who once arrived here as part of an expedition from Earth, and, in order to prove to his father his worth as a hunter, he sets off with her in search of the terrifying beast Kaliska, considered invincible.

A child's game of toy soldiers. Well, when a few brave soldiers fight an army of transformers, and then a dragon flies in, and there's lava all around them, and then there's an explosion and aliens kidnap the last survivor. That's how I perceived the new predator.

Different planets, evil robots, good robots, an immortal monster, blade grass, mine grass, living vines, lots of other stuff, and all of it in the same universe as the alien. And at the center of it all is an alien creature known to us as the Predator. Sounds a lot like the previous paragraph, right?

I remember the first trailer and all the outrage from viewers around it. All the previous films were about a dangerous, scary, mysterious creature and man's unequal struggle with it. And here we have a polished action movie with an alien as the central character. At the very least, it was a controversial concept for such a franchise, so the fans' outrage was understandable. But to me, someone who hadn't seen any of the previous films, this move seemed original and intriguing. However, I forgot about the trailer about an hour after watching it, as I'm sure many others did.

However, with the release of the film, the information field around it came to life. So much so that it was impossible to ignore. Good ratings and rave reviews for a film in a genre that has rarely offered anything new and interesting in recent years. Somewhere deep in my heart, I began to hope for an entertaining, enjoyable, and relaxed film with well-choreographed action scenes, without a million abrupt cuts per second, and with competent cinematography.

And yes, the film turned out to be just that. Quite inventive, moderately funny, and definitely not boring. With its own personal cherry on top in the form of the beautiful Elle Fanning. As it happens, she is the only human face left here (not counting a couple of extras). But does anyone really need anyone else besides Elle? I doubt it.

If you're a fan of the universe, you'll have a hard time. Still, it's a fundamentally different approach to the franchise, from a completely new angle and with a fresh perspective. That's probably why the film worked for me. I haven't seen the previous installments. Neither the previous one by the same director, nor even the classic one with Schwarzenegger. I was open to any interpretation. And if it's a lively action movie with a script in the style of a children's game of soldiers, then why not?
