Movies about 9/11 are terrifying to watch from the very first minute, and I simply can’t bring myself to rate them, judge the actors’ performances or the director’s work, or discuss the quality of the filmmaking. All of that is mere triviality that is completely out of place.

Just the thought of the people who were inside the planes, inside the Twin Towers, is enough to make you shudder. The movie “World Trade Center,” starring Nicolas Cage, tells the story of the rescue workers who tried to stop the nightmare, somehow save people, and turn the situation around. ‘United 93’ is about those who faced an even greater terror—the people on board the two planes. And it’s also about the air traffic controllers, who didn’t understand what was happening until the very last moment and refused to believe this nightmare was real.

You watch a movie like this and cry without tears. And you cry with tears, too, especially toward the end. I watched the movie over a month ago, but I have to admit, as I write these lines now, tears are welling up in my eyes. “The world will never be the same.” Let’s observe a moment of silence.
