Story Movie

An oil company sends a team to Northern Alaska to set up equipment. Previously, another company had already conducted test drilling here, but for unknown reasons, they shut down the work and sealed the well in a metal box. Very soon everyone realizes that something wrong is going on in the camp and they will have to make every effort to survive.

For me personally, ‘The Last Winter’ is a cold, snowy, and much less expensive version of the thriller ‘The Deep Blue Sea’, where the leitmotif is an aggressive descent into the earth's depths with extremely unpleasant consequences.

Larry Fessenden and Co. worked hard to make it cheap but tasteful. It was scary. Deer are terrifying in their otherworldly essence. They simply blew up the denouement. The insertion of childhood memories almost brought tears to my eyes. I liked the actors' performances, with special thanks to Ron Perlman, who was not shy about playing someone who had wet the bed after a nightmare. For some reason, you appreciate such candid little things. The nudity seemed appropriate: the eccentric, zombified by dark spirits, blended effectively with nature. The Last Winter also features a confrontation between two strong-willed but different men. This is another plus. I'm not giving it full marks because the final scenes are too ambiguous.
