A group of elderly veterans of foreign wars is going to have a drink in the bar on the occasion of the birthday of one of them - even though the birthday boy is against the celebration, he is still glad to see old friends. Suddenly a girl runs into the institution, and behind her two aggressive thugs. Having stood up for the protection of a stranger, grandfathers kill their pursuers, which draw the wrath of a local huckster, in whom the girl stole a shipment of drugs. Now the crazy addicts are beginning to besiege the bar, and veterans are not averse to shaking antiquity and are not going to give up without a fight.

Long gone are the times when the protagonist, not having a pile of muscles, could pile on bad guys. Charles Bronson is long gone. Other 70-80-90s heroes retired or haven't held a gun in a long time.

Now everyone is full of Johnsons, Statens, Edkins or fighting women weighing 50 pounds, but dealing with a bunch of enemies one left. Old people don't belong here.

Of course, you could say that Stallone is a bit of a VHS fan of the era, but it's painfully pathos he gets.

But still from time to time on the screen there are interesting works - action movies or even thrash films, which in one way or another give 70s or 80-90s.

Veterans in the story hang out in a bar, where they exchange jokes, and then, when the plot has already wrapped up - the skulls crumble, bipod demolish heads - all very lamp. Even though they're being attacked by junkies, it looks like 'From Sunset...'.

Anyway, Joe Begos made a great movie. I wouldn't call his two previous movies successful, this is where he grew up, I think. Everything finally came together - the picture, the sound, the actors, the plot.
