The impression is that 'Resident Evil 3' is a low-budget film. The director successfully saved on everything). Maybe the movie didn't impress me because it seemed like one of the many remakes of the old horror zombie? Most likely, it is so ... Let's draw a parallel between the old and the new. The scene in the old horrors (70-80s) was often some abandoned island, resembling a desert or steppe, and 'rural' dilapidated houses that looked quite ominous. Now let's take a look at 'Resident Evil 3' (2007): deserts, dilapidated houses and nothing else (except for the base, which we will talk about a little later). You can put, if not an equal sign, then a conformity sign. Probably, the director did not accidentally choose deserts instead of cities, because this is a very large economy of the film's budget. Imagine: no scenery is needed, no detail is needed, nothing is needed ... well, why not a director's paradise?

'Pleased' with the meager scenery of Las Vegas ... Is that all that's left of him? Where did it all go? Have all the buildings been eaten by zombies, but the towers and sphinx could not bite? Or did the director decide not to advertise gambling and leave only attractions? Las Vegas in the film reminded me of paper toys for children 'glue it myself'. As a result, they glued the Statue of Liberty, the Sphinx, the Eiffel Tower and something else). This attitude towards the scenery is a very big regression compared to the first and second parts of the film. Having finally turned into an action movie, the film really regressed ... The most colorful, in my opinion, was the second part of 'Resident Evil'. Perhaps I am a fan of urbanism, but the director of the second part really managed to recreate the realistic atmosphere of the city: globality, mass character, saturation are a very big plus.

Now let's move on to the question of special effects. Actually, I am not a special fan of special effects, or rather, I have my own point of view on them ... I am a lover of old horror films, where special effects are quite primitive or almost nonexistent. No, because they are not needed. After all, if we look at old horrors (for example, Romero, Hitchcock, Coscarelli, some little-known directors, black and white, silent films), then, despite their low budget, they attract the viewer, they delay ... The main thing in these films is not special effects, the main thing is emotional expression. They literally affect the human psyche: the heroes of the films very realistically express their emotions and enter the role. And you see everything through the eyes of the heroes, you feel what they feel ... Why has this perception disappeared from the new films? Why did they become dry and unfeeling? Special effects do not convey feelings, they only displace feelings and simply give a second burst of adrenaline. Returning to the film: and even with these ill-fated special effects, it was somehow not very bright, not very rich ((. I remembered only a thief, Milla's fire, an unrealistic computer explosion and a monster. Perhaps these are not all effects, but this is what was deposited in my memory.

And in conclusion - briefly about the resources ... The costs, in my opinion, are minimal: a few extras of zombies (computer ones at the base do not count), extras of Claire's people, the main characters; 1 motorcycle, several cars, 1 helicopter standing at the base, a couple of houses and the corridor base itself. The makeup of the actors (both people and zombies) is minimal, there is almost no crash ... What, one wonders, did the funds go to? Probably a few computer graphics and a monster! And, I almost forgot, to the base! After all, to create a base of the "corridor" type is such an overwhelming work! ) As a result, the base, it turns out, is the only full-fledged decoration in the film)
