I think we can confess to each other now as openly as possible that the first trailers of the upcoming 'Matrix' delivered some questions, moreover pushed to bad thoughts about the quality of the sequel. But I banished these thoughts away, hoping that I will see the series of the story I like on the screen after all.

In fact, the first minutes of screen time even more strengthen the fears described above. And it starts with the first action scene, which mimics a similar scene with Trinity and the cops in the room, from the first part of the trilogy. The difference in the quality of staging and editing of these seemingly identical episodes can be felt by the untrained eye. The grace and grace of Trinity's physics has been replaced by the jagged editing and shaky camera work of the new approach, and trust me, this is one of the worst changes that absolutely kills the whole 'Matrix in the Matrix' thing. The longer I continued watching this picture the more and more my thought consolidated in my head - the stylistics of the previous trilogy were crossed out. All the film's narration clings to the original series, trying to keep the connection with it not to fall to pieces, because the plot in my opinion is pulled out of thin air, moreover this part looks alien to the background of its predecessors. This applies to literally everything that happens here: the action scenes - they are awful! Special effects were once the highlight of the series, but now they serve as meaningless filler of screen time. The combat system is a separate pain to the eyes! There isn't a single quality fight that's well-designed and staged. Moreover, as I wrote above - all the fights seen are shown in 'torn editing' mode and shaky camera. You don't have time to focus on any of the punches or holds - it was very tense and repulsive.

The storyline as a whole - it's awful and boring as hell. Watching the same characters, who essentially have already completed their destiny and have given their all in the original trilogy, is now not interesting at all. Their motives - loving each other and being together - I've seen it all before. And here that's the point of the whole piece. There's a lot of dull, meaningless talk and snotty scenes in the movie. On all fronts in my opinion this is a complete failure. The old Neo can no longer impress and becomes annoying by the end of the tape with his energy shield and arms spread wide, running around like that for a good part of the screen time with a squirming grimace on his face. An elegant Morpheus with a glass of wine or whiskey... that's... I guess that's it, that's the end of my review.
