About the adventures of former petty criminal Scott Lang, who becomes the owner of a suit that allows him to shrink and grow in size. Hope dies last. There was hope for a sequel to Ant-Man, not just for fans, but for the entire studio. But the problem with uncertainty and ambiguity has further ruined future plans (and the recent Jonathan Majors scandal even more so). The film as a whole is ordinary for Mavel. It's good as another Scott Lang adventure, as a comedy, as a family movie, but weak for the nomination of a new saga villain. And who knows Kang anyway, other than fans? The first season finale of "Loki" came out two years ago, where we were introduced to the Conqueror, and now we're revisiting the idea very late. Yes, the writers should have run both "Miss Marvel" and "Hulk Woman" and the unheralded "Black Widow" solo, but where is the overall component? Where is the thing that should unite the phases of the cinematic universe?

Unfortunately, we're getting nowhere. James Gunn completed his space adventures, John Watts brought out Spider-Man for solo adventures, but there's something about the Multiverse Saga that's not coming out. The premise was there. Not only that, "Loki," "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness" gave us alternate versions and different worlds. The Thanos flick changed the whole narrative line, but they couldn't develop this theme any further.

Nevertheless, if you take away the scale and plans of Quantomania, the film was quite bearable. The exposition shows what Janet Van Dyne was doing in the quantum world, thus connecting the events of "Loki." The present tense, on the other hand, gives that spirit of Ant-Man that we are already accustomed to. The comedy, the mockumentary, the self-irony, especially after "Avengers: The Finale," it looks like fun. But the film suddenly becomes serious, immersing the viewer in a quantum world. From nothing, literally out of the dust (quantum, after all) we get a twist. I don't argue, a very interesting quantum world came out that resembles a mix of Dr. Strange madness and the "Star Wars" franchise (it's not plagiarism if you steal from yourself, is it, Disney?!).

Adventures, interesting creatures, micro-organisms, just to build up intrigue about the main antagonist. The picture delights in the fact that there is some kind of threat, that Janet's past won't let her go, that the first Wasp was sort of the key to development in the quantum world. Lots of vivid characters, lots of strange creatures. The jokes, vulgar in places, come off in the film. If you compare all the Ant-Man movies, "Quantomania" is by far the best among them, but it's still a movie for one-time entertainment.

Threat looms over all the characters. We are shown rebels, evil robots, and a Mechanized Organism to Zero Quantum (Life). It was quite bizarre, but at the same time another comic book character is embodied on screen. M.O.D.O.K. is so bad it's even good. Tommy Weiso's "Room" in the Cinematic Universe. There are also logical questions for the film. The plot ignores its own rules, created by Hank Pym back in the day, but you don't pay attention to that anymore as there is action, action, action ahead of us!

The tape is saved by interesting creatures. A broccoli man, a robot lantern, a telepath, a strange licker, living houses, interesting flying carrier birds, and Bill fucking Murray! The picture sums up the drama, creating an internal conflict between Scott and Cassie to bring up family values and a five-year absence after the Thanos flick. But the plot puts Kang on edge.

About Kang! The comic book character himself really came off as an amateur. With multiple versions of himself in all universes, the Conqueror can be pure evil, destroying everything around him simply because of God syndrome, or he can be a positive character who understands what evil versions of himself can create. His powers are surprising every time, but the character lives outside of time and in all temporal versions at once. That's why Thanos didn't care about him, either, as we followed one linear narrative thread until Avengers: The Finale. But that's the problem, having created such power, it's hard to manage it within the movies and TV series. In the comics, it's much easier to do another reboot, to reset the timeline or simply erase the chronology of events, but in movies, when we have the first phase that brought the characters together and created the Avengers, it's kind of rude and cruel to write off the studio and cast's achievements.

Kang, of course, is epic. A strong, ferocious destroyer who harbors some sort of mission to save...what? We're not destroying a city or a country here, but an entire reality. That's why it comes out that such a mighty villain, and there's no way to unlock the potential, and in one film, too. Of course, the scenes after the credits prepare us for something bigger, but the excitement of the past is gone. The film delights in the forces of ant. We have everyone included in the battle: along with Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Catherine Newton, Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas fight. Surprised by the presence of Kathy M. O'Brien. She was just in "The Mandalorean" at my place. The actress is moving up the blockbuster ranks.

All in all, the picture dramatizes, impresses with action, shows Kang's power at last, and gives good fights involving Goliath and another gadgety Hank Pym. The emphasis is on future projects, including scenes after the credits, but I doubt we'll make any headway before "Kang Dynasty." Too ambiguous and uncertain of a villain. The third "Ant-Man" is trying, trying to cram in the 2 years of missed development of the overall integrity, but the problem is that we can't let the Avengers association down with one movie. At the very least, two or three more soliloquies should be exactly summing up Kang, not revealing their own characters.

Ideas have run out, subpoenas are pressing, and the studio wants more money, but the system has failed.
