Review 4K Movie

Amazing movie. A week ago I knew nothing about it, and now it has taken an honorable place in the top ten movies that you should watch when your soul demands a holiday. This viewing really turned out to be a holiday - for a long time I haven't seen such a bright, juicy picture, each frame is filled with such inexpressible beauty - it just has to be seen. Contrasting colors, the most saturated shades, a real riot of colors. Like a pattern on the wings of a butterfly.

Costumes and scenery - of course they are not the main thing, they are just a wrapper for that marvelous candy that is hidden inside. Perhaps, the candy itself will seem to you not so tempting as the wrapper, but do not jump to conclusions, take into account that the main thing in this candy is the filling, and the filling is really wonderful. And even more important is the aftertaste. You will not be able to get the movie out of your head immediately after watching it, and you will hardly want to.

Close your eyes and imagine for a moment...Los Angeles, long ago. In an old hospital, fate brought two people together: a little five-year-old Alexandria, who broke her arm falling from an orange tree, and a young stuntman Roy, who also fell while performing a stunt and now can hardly walk. He is crippled, he has lost his beloved, life seems over for him. “You will save my soul,” Roy tells her, and he thinks to himself that she herself unknowingly helped him to leave this world. He tells her the tale, while very skillfully manipulating the girl, getting closer to his terrible goal. Alexandria, a naive child, doesn't suspect a trick, even when she sees someone being carried out of the hospital with a sheet over their head. She wants to help her friend sleep, that's all. She's willing to do anything for that, even fall down again....

The fairy tale is inside this story, it breaks into reality, or vice versa reality penetrates into the fairy tale, but, one way or another, they are interconnected. To some extent, the fairy tale is a reflection of the storyteller's perception of life. The fairy tale story itself is simple, slightly formulaic, but that is not the main thing in it, not the plot. The way it is told, you have to listen to the fairy tale and relate it to reality all the time, find fairy tale characters in everyday life and then you can get more than just an unreal story. It's insanely, insanely beautiful, it's touching to the point of tears in places, and it does teach, especially when you consider it in the overall context of the movie.

“Why are you killing everyone?” - Alexandria asks him as Roy, with tear-red eyes and a bottle of liquor in hand, destroys his heroes one by one. And really, why? A fairy tale can't be that hard, it shouldn't end like that. Neither should life. We may not choose our destiny, but we are the ones who decide what to do with our lives. Alexandria does save Roy's soul, but does so in a very different way than he wanted.

The picture mostly holds on the play of two actors. Catinca Untaru, a small Romanian actress played in my opinion wonderfully. Slightly chubby girl, who almost the whole movie had to pass with a hand in a cast. Her serious expression was sometimes replaced by such funny grimaces that I involuntarily smiled. In general, she did not overplay, behaved quite naturally and looked great against the background of the other adults.

Lee Pace, who played Roy and the main character in his own tale. I've never seen him before, but he coped with this role perfectly in my opinion. Cried to such a degree natural and heartwarming that even now, sitting in front of the monitor I have tears in my eyes. That's normal - stories like this always affect me in a similar way. Perfectly suited for this role - there is something in his appearance, in the manner of holding and speaking that helps you to sympathize with his character and really feel for him. And, I repeat, the scene in the girl's ward - very touching, but within reason.

Delightful music, sometimes solemn, sometimes unusually lyrical, perfectly suits the picture. It is worth praising the work of the cameraman - he always found the most successful angles, the most beautiful plans. Costumes and scenery are a separate conversation. Each character of the fairy tale is a separate work of art, at least in appearance. And finally, we should praise the translators - the voices are well chosen, the translation is also done competently, even the song in the background seems to have been translated. In a word, perfect.

The story turned out to be an adult one. I'm afraid that a child is unlikely to understand it, and some scenes are not so childish. At the same time, many adults may be scared off by the title - “The Fall”, something between “Tales of the Earthsea” and “Land of Fairies”. The movie tells about human mistakes and failures, about the fact that all of us sometimes fall, but alas not all of us are able to find the strength to get up. And sometimes, we just need to give a purpose to live, it is necessary to have a little naive person, ready for you to do anything, just to hear the continuation of the fairy tale. And you should not disappoint him, because a fairy tale should always have a happy ending.

To those who look at the world through the eyes of a child, who have risen again and again, who have fallen and lie now without strength and hope, is dedicated...
