Oh, these western sites like rotten tomatoes and metacritic! Thanks to them, in recent years you can’t just go to the cinema without knowing anything about the film. The World Wide Web and the above sites will make it so that sitting in the hall, you will already know about all the problems of the picture in advance. So it is with Hellboy - the damned tomatoes smashed the tape so hard before the premiere that doubts began to creep into my head: is it really that bad?

Fortunately, I am not one of those who read other people's reviews and will change my point of view. Opinion must have its own. Mumbling these words under his breath, I (and eight others) wandered into the cinema.

And it's good that we did it!

A little historical background: Hellboy is a character in adult comics from the author Mike Mignola, whom he invented in 1993. The comic book quickly gained popularity and was liked by the public. And according to this, transferring the “Hell Guy” to the big screen was only a matter of time. This very time came when in 2004 the notorious maestro of beautiful and disgusting horrors Guillermo Del Toro rolled out his tape “Hellboy: A Hero from Pecla” to the public. This is not to say that the film caused a furor at the box office, but the audience liked it and after 15 years it looks almost all just as wonderful. This was followed by an equally worthy sequel, but after that the series fell into a coma, and later died suddenly. Del Toro, as he could tried to beat the right to shoot the third part, but did not grow together.

2019 year. April. Hellboy is storming cinemas again. And in fact it turns out to be completely unlike the films that we have already seen. The dilogy with Ron Perlman in the title role was, no doubt, excellent, but in places it significantly departed from the comic books for the sake of cinematography or the will of the director's vision. Fresh “Hellboy”, on the contrary, is much more like its paper ancestor.

The film is watched in one breath. He is light, colorful, bright, cheerful, cheerful and in some places funny. This is the type of picture that the eyes look and the brain is resting. Indeed, if you start to take a critical approach to analyzing what is happening on the screen, then the “Hell Guy” sample 2019 raises too many questions: the film is excessively torn mounted, many dialogs break off at a glance, half of the characters are not spelled, the second appears in one frame just to disappear in the following, the main characters move a giant distance at the click of a finger and assembly gluing, but I don’t even want to talk about the motivation of some characters. All this to a certain extent explains the stream of hatred that hit the film on Western resources.

But there is one caveat. Hellboy is definitely not the kind of film to which such a critical approach should be applied. Because if you just lean back in a chair and relax, the film will captivate you for two hours and it will be two hours full of crazy recklessness and madness. Moreover, the picture completely fulfills its age rating: there are more than enough intestines and blood spots, and jokes sometimes cross the same line when it is customary for children to close their ears. With all the love for Guillermo films, they just lacked this detachment, which flourished here in all its glory.

We were eight at Hellboy and we all liked him. Someone more, someone less, but everyone left the room satisfied. Therefore, if you are ready to strangle the inner bore of a snob, and enjoy a fun, but silly movie, then Hellboy is a good choice.
