Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore 4K 2022 Ultra HD 2160p
Professor Albus Dumbledore learns that the powerful dark wizard Gellert Green-de-Wald plans to take over the world. Realizing that he cannot stop him alone, Dumbledore asks magozoologist Newt Salamander to lead a team of outstanding wizards and one brave Muggle baker. They will have incredibly dangerous adventures, meet old and tame new magical creatures, and fight against the supporters of Grindelwald, who are growing in number.

Review 4K Movie

The movie didn't have time to come out in Russian and most likely will be in an amateur translation, so I didn't wait and watched it in the original language. Of course, a miracle may happen and a dubbing will appear. In that case, it will be fun to hear what they will do with the many 'fall in love' from Albus to Gellert. Apparently, they will become friends, associates, comrades.

The first and most important thing to consider: the 'Fantastic Creatures' franchise was originally not for fans of canon, just remember the inconsistencies with Minerva McGonagall teaching at Hogwarts even before she was born, and Albus, who is supposed to be a teacher of transfiguration, not CTE. Fans of the canon plot have branded FT as heresy since the first movie. But water rocks. And I, from a hardened canon fan who didn't recognize any 'heresies' like FT or Gelbus (Albus/Gellert pairing), missed the magical world and Jude Law's ass, so here I am with a review, actually.

Anyway, if you've lived to see FT3, you hardly care about canon, or have come to terms with FT's existence as an alternate universe.

'Plus' #1. Gelbus fans welcome, the rest of you, my condolences. Actually, if you can't sleep after the Einalege mirror scene in FT2, you'll have something to reap. Get ready for the 'glass. I've been coming around for four days.

'Plus' #2. Mads Mikkelsen and his Gellert Grindelwald. Finally, I see the real - I said real! - Gellert, not Captain Jack Sparrow (I love Johnny exactly until his role in PCM, I respect him, but he played Gellert disgustingly). The third part was worth filming for the sake of letting everyone know that Mikkelsen should have been taken from the beginning.

'Plus' #3, aka 'minus' #1. The endless discussion of Albus and Gellert's love affair. This little bit will nail even the complete heteros, LGBT lovers won't seem enough. I, on the other hand, 'didn't get the memo.

'Plus' #4. Spectacular scenes. You'd think there would have been something like that in the previous episodes. Here they have tried their best. Lots of beautiful and exciting scenes. Can be tiresome, but I can not detract from the effectiveness. Especially, I liked how Albus and Gellert, separate from each other, for their own purposes, use surfaces of water, glass and mirrors to see the present and future, and - create illusions for those they want to fool.

'Plus' #5. The tandem of Muds and Juds is the Gelbus we deserve.

'Plus' #6. Albus' sense of humor (the scene with the confrontation with Grindelwald's minions, the story with the suitcases and the multiplication spell). In general, Albus has a peculiar sense of humor. The restaurant that Albus invited Gellert to for the first time in 25 years was apparently a Muggle restaurant, because Gellert sat there and didn't touch his coffee as if he were going to vomit, but not from Albus, he was pleased with him, and wanted to establish a relationship (surprisingly, not political). But Gellert would only be invited to a Muggle restaurant by a level-89 troll, or a former one. And, as I noticed, Gellert forgave him for that, and he didn't consider him an ex either. English humor is blackness and surreal in places, but he who understands, understands.

'Minus' #2. Who are all these people and where are they running to. If you couldn't keep up with the plot twists in previous installments, you'll get tired here, too. I suppose this move is intended for two reasons: the movie is for children, which means there should be plenty of action to keep your attention; there is no source material in the form of a book, which means it should be complicated (actually, it shouldn't). A lot of people have already started berating Mama Rho for being a 'bad screenwriter' and that's the point, but I'm afraid not everyone takes into account that there are two other screenwriters and a director who has been bending his line since GP, and I haven't been a fan of GP adaptations since (anyone who has read the books will understand my dislike of David Yates).

'Minus' #3. Santa Barbara with poor Creedence's origins. Gellert didn't exactly lie to him. Or rather, he didn't lie at all, but I didn't expect that.

Minus #4. No flashbacks. None at all. There are brief Albus stories about the summer of 1899, about how they all did stupid things there. But you won't hear anything new there if you've read GP's 'Deathly Hallows'. No flashbacks to Godric's Hollow, crash! Gellert at his 16th birthday. Only some details about Aberforth's life are relatively new.

Minus #5. Neither yours nor ours. The mix of 13+ family movie genres with the LGBT theme doesn't sit right in many people's heads. Neither, in fact, does it in my head. I'm 26 years old and I'm comfortable with the LGBT theme, but I don't understand why it needs to be crammed into the family movie genre without caring about the feelings of those who are disgusted by even a hint of it. Plus, not all families and countries welcome this kind of relationship. Clearly this is the work of the Overton Window, but you have to know the limits. For fans of Gelbus, the LGBT theme may seem unexplored (no, I don't want pornography, I wanted more details about the relationship - how they met, what they talked about, why Gellert so charmed and convinced Albus of his ideas, because Albus is no fool, and he gave in to Gellert all summer long to the point that he forgot about his sister and brother until Aberforth yelled at him and got what he got - this is what I wanted; Talking about the Common Good, finding the Deathly Hallows, maybe some awkward hand-holding).

'Minus' #6. How easy and simple the blood oath cracked. Such a pathetic shot, a frightened Albus and his furious hubby, a heartbeat - over-hyperbolizing the moment. But one thing that was beautiful in that moment was their blurry silhouettes from afar, as if in a Einalege mirror. But the rest, crammed into five seconds - the cracked vial, their faces - was too much for such a moment. I'm afraid the oath was broken too prosaically to give the moment such pathological music and a full-screen pendant. The dramaturgy is unnecessary.

It may seem like I'm rather disappointed or picky, but I'm not. Compared to the second movie, where the content doesn't even correlate with the title (where are the crimes? please list them), and Gellert looks like a fake on theme (he's too mannered in FT2), FT3 is more believable at least in the Gelbus relationship line.

I give Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen a million hearts out of a million. They did a brilliant job.
