Story Movie

Aoi and Akane's parents died 13 years ago, and in order to take care of her younger sister, Akane had to give up plans to move to Tokyo with her boyfriend Shinnosuke. Aoi has felt indebted to her sister ever since. One day, a famous enka singer named Dankichi invites Aoi, who is just taking her first steps in music, to perform at a festival. At the same time, Shinnosuke returns to his hometown after a long absence. At the same time, Shinno mysteriously appears, who is a thirteen-year-old Shinnosuke who has come from the past to the present. And Aoi falls in love for the first time.

Review 4K Movie

Let's move away from the usual assessments—my colleagues have already described enough human and emotional aspects in their reviews.

What sets me apart is that I am a musician with 20 years of experience. With music school, working my way up from the bottom, and, whatever they may be, achievements.

I'll start with the good stuff—this is the best example of a “musical drama” in terms of authenticity to the musical process. The hand positioning is well-drawn, the positional playing is mostly correct (they play what you hear), and there are other details that are not apparent to the casual viewer. And even one detail, when the concepts of tempo and rhythm are confused - I am inclined to think that the mistake is on the part of the translator.

Sinnosuke's position on working with amateurs deserves a separate mention. I am completely on his side, because I was in Aoi's position: I played with well-known professionals and yes, I am a bassist. I know what I'm talking about. Well, it's a so-so experience: it's impossible to use the enthusiasm of “believe in yourself and everything will work out” to raise the level of people who have dedicated their lives to it.

I won't go into the general plot of the film — everything is fine there, I have no complaints.

The person I would like to focus on is Shinnosuke. He is a truly tragic figure, no matter how hard they try to portray him as an ungrateful whiner. There is a concept called “survivor bias,” when positive experiences are analyzed, but negative ones are completely dismissed. Rock music is the brightest manifestation of this: everyone sees the bright stars. But for some reason, it is not customary to remember that they stand on top of a “mountain of bones” of their less fortunate colleagues. And the fact that “you're such a musician, but you play accompaniment in chanson!” is quite a career peak, people who are “not in the know” don't really think about it. Shinnosuke worked, pushed, reached out, and achieved. And this is in wealthy Japan, where there is a music market, where there is money in the entertainment industry. And he did it HIMSELF. The fact that his life did not turn out the way he originally planned is a common tragedy for everyone, for which he is not to blame (although the authors stubbornly argue the opposite).

I have an example from Belarus: a friend who became a professional musician. Not rock, of course (where would we get rock, it's ridiculous), but still. Yes, he achieved it. Yes, he became Shinnosuke. But no one knows what it cost him. And not him — he didn't say a word. He dropped out of school at 15, played, played (and drank). He lived with his grandmother in her one-room apartment on her pension, his relatives bought him a guitar, and he never worked anywhere, saying, “I'm a musician.” Yes, he achieved his goal—by the age of 35, he was making a living from music. Standing on the shoulders of ALL his relatives. Life was less kind to me—I worked and, as a result, let my Sinno go out into the world, remaining a boring sales manager, like the hero's friends in the band.
