Story Movie

Munich, 1923. Two years have passed since Edward Elric was transported to our world from his own, where his homeland, his friends, and his younger brother, Alphonse, remained. Deprived of the ability to practice alchemy, Ed has been conducting research in rocket technology all this time alongside Alphonse Heiderich—a young man who bears a striking resemblance to his younger brother—hoping that this would lead him to a way back home. So far, his efforts have been in vain, but when he learned that the Thule Society—an occult group closely associated with the Nazi Party—had discovered the key to the location of the legendary, mystical land of Shambhala, Edward’s hopes were reignited. Meanwhile, in his own world, Alphonse Elric delves ever deeper into the mysteries of alchemy, searching for a way to be reunited with his older brother.

Review 4K Movie

I consider *Fullmetal Alchemist* to be one of the best anime of its kind, but after watching this film, only one logical question comes to mind: “What on earth was that?” Not only does this feature film have a completely ill-conceived plot, but the characters themselves don’t even resemble their usual selves.

The plot is fairly simple, but very strange; the entire atmosphere of the Alchemist’s world has vanished, along with the characters’ charisma—everything that captivates and enchants viewers in Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 and 2009). Watching *Shambala* ruins my overall impression of TV1. In this feature-length film, everything feels implausible and fake, especially the ending. Some of the characters’ actions are impossible to understand in principle.

It’s a pitiful imitation of the original series, a sick fantasy of the animators and a desire to make money off the popularity of the manga and anime *Fullmetal Alchemist*.

The only positives I can mention are that the soundtrack and animation are top-notch, just like in TV1.

‘The Conqueror of Shambala’ was a letdown. It feels like a half-baked alchemist.
